MY WILD MORNING COMMUTE ... condensed.

My 21 mile commute to work each day is not like most people's morning journey. During the 25 minute ride, I usually see more deer than cars, and in fact, the deer are a bigger threat than cars.

Toss in a few feral hogs crossing from one slough to the next and the motorcycle ride becomes an interesting mix of tranquil forests and moments of "oh crap!".

Still, I would choose it over urban traffic threats any day of the week.

Below is a super condensed two and a half minute video of my ride to work.

Like the gloves and the helmet and the looking both ways. Is that baby cedar a replacement for the one that fell on the JEEP?

I would be the coolest first grade teacher ever if I rode a red motorcycle to school.

A Jeep and a bike - now that's cool. :-) I have a Jeep and a little red scooter . . . not the same, but I love my little "bike".

Nice ride!

My commute is less than 2 miles, and I've walked it many times in the past. Can't even listen to an entire NPR piece before I'm there.

Robin,
Thanks! My hunchback in the shadow shots is the red backpack I wear!

3C,
Appreciate that and yes, I will be careful!

Cathy,
Ditto on the 3 safety things. Yes, the baby cedar is just waiting it's chance to attack.

Miz S,
I don't think YOU need a motorcycle to reach that goal :)

Elizabeth,
A girl with a JEEP has a coolness factor that doesn't require a motorcycle!

Pablo,
I miss my NPR on the bike, but rushing wind is a good listen also.

Oh, I miss driving through that area! It's been TOO long!

I had to pop over and share this with you. I thought of you immediately...

Sorry, it's late and I'm too tired to remember the hyperlink code.

Love it!
I'm interested in that old abandoned bridge on the left you pass near the end...

Never mind. I deduced that it is the Cedar Key #4 Bridge fishing pier. I just have thing for old roads and bridges and take it that this was part of the original road down to Cedar Key.

FC, FC, FC. It is a beautiful commute. And that was a thrilling video. The shadow on the bridge wall was good. But all it's gonna take is one impulsive pig to decide to squirt across the road at just the wrong time. I would much prefer knowing there was a steel box between you and the road, and that you, and not the pig, would win.
Do I have to come down there??
Honestly.

Sophie,
Great to hear from you! I will check out that link.

Kort,
Yes! The #4 bridge it is.

Zick,
Dear Mom, I promise to be careful and focus like a laser beam when hiking to work!
:)

Thanks. I've never been to Cedar Key, but am fascinated by FL history. It looks like your area has its fair share, with the old Faber factory once being located on Atsena Otie. Among other things.
