This is "Gator". He started out as a small, brown, very normal looking crawfish. He's gotten larger with each successive molt, but he's also started turning blue. His large claw in the front even seems to be sporting some orange dots also. I have a pregnant female crawfish from the same dipping expedition who shows shades of blue. I am keeping them in separate tanks waiting to see if I get a strain of blue crawfish. This blue may seem pretty unusual, but this blue form shows up from time to time in crustaceans. Some of the tropical fish farmers in south Florida have a completely blue line of crawfish and I have seen pictures of solid blue Yankee lobsters from Maine. Florida crawfish are of course better tasting than crawfish from anywhere else. Posted by Hello
