Homecoming...busy, busy

See you tomorrow with a post about our new 20 acre tree farm...TWIG FOREST.

Today is a small town Homecoming for me and mine...we will be doing all that cozy American traditional stuff ...a parade through this one horse town, a Friday night football game, the crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen, and tomorrow the big Homecoming dance.

Katie is a Queen candidate...I'll let you know.

EDITED AT 11:00 PM EST:

KATIE IS THE HOMECOMING QUEEN!

THE PARADE WAS PARADEY WITH THE USUAL CANDY THROWING AND EMMA'S FLOAT (JUNIOR CLASS) WON THE FLOAT COMPETION.

FC'S GIRLS TAKE A GRAND SLAM!

PICS LATER!

Sounds wonderful. Memories for the kids. Warm feelings for the old fogeys. Good luck to Katie. (Is she the cutie pie seal?) I guess you guys can squeeze all of this in before Wilma comes to visit????

I am greatly interested in posts about Twig Forest. Is it an actual tree farm where you cultivate the trees for sale? Or is it a bit of forest? Or what. I'm eager for the details when they come.

Good luck to Katie. If there is any sense in the world, that daughter of yours will be Queen!
Looking forward to your Twig Forest news. I've got the same questions as Pablo.

Pablo,
The cutie pie seal is Emma, sweet Emma.

Katie's in a summer post driving the boat, but I will post her highness when I get the film developed this weekend.
You're right it is good memories all round.
Twig forest is Saturday's post, working on it now at 11:00pm.

RD,
Thanks for the kind wishes. It worked, she's queen and very girly happy! I did not cry...those are just rumors.

Congratulations, proud papa! (Having been in that same place, I know how you feel.) This is the kind of thing that just boosts a "child's" self esteem a notch further. She can put in her tool box of self worth that will carry her into her adult life. She can build on this and make it part of a continuing pattern of achievement and self respect.

But that's for later. Right now she should enjoy her giddiness and delight. (And so should you, FC.)

Weary,
It welled up, but I caught it... I swear I did!

Pablo,
Wisdom as usual. Thanks. She was still giddy as she went out the door at 7:00 this morning to go take her SAT's...poor thing.

FC,
Wow! That's awesome! Be sure to tell them both congrats from us! You know, I would have thought that you'd be a little excited about something like this, but I guess some people just take this stuff in stride! (lol) Say hey to Patience for us too, I'm pretty sure she had a hand in this success as well!

Hick,
Thanks, I'm sure she will remember it always. 15 minutes of fame and all that...

DPR,
Thanks, "rich in daughters". I like that. I know THEY seem to think daddy's rich...

ThunderD,
I was mrcool until she got it. Weird.
Emma and her crew worked so hard on their float, it was great to see them win the contest. Thanks to you and Lightning.
