Nice photos. We have had a couple of floks report Gulf Fritillaries as far north as the Chicago region this year. Highly unusual- which is too bad, because its a really beautiful butterfly.
Pop, I saw it. It makes sense that the worm lizard might be dark as a baby, lots of herps change color as they grow up. Did you get a pic? I wish I were more helpful, but none of the tiny snakes I know are aggressive and actually, neither is the worm lizard. I think only a pic could solve this mystery from my end. Sorry.

I will have to check those out at my local HD. :) I got some great shots of the same butterfly at a local park, they have an awesome butterfly garden and they were swarming.

If you plant passionflower, you will get them at your place in large numbers.
We've got cabbage moths. I don't suppose you'd like a picture of one.
