Pelican's Lament

Remember when having a hook caught in your bill was the biggest concern for a pelican?

  2. How about a hook and an oil suit? Insult to injury!

  3. Sandcastle Momma reports tarballs on her beach at Destin. I am so sad - for the innocent animals, the hardworking fishermen and shrimpers, for the families who may not get to go scalloping this sumemr...

  4. This slow-motion disaster is unbearable. I can't look at any of the photos and see all that suffering, knowing I can't do a damned thing to help.

  8. Thank you for not showing that picture of the completely covered pelican. It literally makes me ill. Also am concerned with articles by scientists of what could happen. Trying to read between the lines of no information and conspiracy theories.

  11. Ouch!

I just heard that they estimate the flow rate at 100 B/day (4MM gal/day)now. SO with this being 63 days now that would make it 252,000,000 gallons of oil released in the gulf!

What happens to the water that this volume displaces?
