(Allright, true confession, ACTUALLY, I'm a fan of Groupon)
Still, fan or not, there's no way I would have shucked out the full price for the North Florida SuperHero Scramble race on July 28, 2012 without Groupon.
Heck, I might not even have heard of it.
A few months ago, the Scramble arrived via email in the form of a Groupon offer. I read the description ... hmmm, a 4 mile race with 20 gnarly obstacles scattered along the way. The running part kind of stinks, but the idea of 20 challenging obstacles was intriguing.
I went to the website, HERE, read the info and watched the videos.
Okayyyy ... there are people running the race in super hero costumes ... ummm ... wait, that is just by choice and not mandatory.
Ok.
The price is ... yikes!
Ok, it's for a good charity ... and the Groupon gives a super discount.
I'm in.
And with a click, I bought the Groupon deal.
So, now I am committed, 'cause you know I'm not going to back out. I had thought, well, if I buy this thing and talk about it, maybe somebody in the family might do it too, but it looks like I will be the lone trailblazer this year.
I certainly won't be "racing" anybody, but after watching a few SuperHero Scramble race videos on Youtube, it sounds like a lot of physically challenging fun.
I plan to wear the GoPro headmount, so if I survive, you should get a POV video here sometime after the race ... when I am able to move my body again.
The race is July 28.
My purpose for mentioning it here is so you can be my coaches and remind me to keep training. The daily rains, lightning, and mosquito hordes make it easy to blow off the running, so feel free to shout encouraging coachesque stuff in the comments until then.
So, in the spirit of race preparation, I'm off to do P90X Legs and Back (I hate that DVD), but before I go, here's a flashback from the Gulf Camp back in June.

Slumping in disappointment...my plans to move to FL to be your full-time fan are dashed. I can't swim, hate mosquitoes...just going to have to hold down the fort up here in landlocked Ohio, I guess. Well, it's a pretty nice fort, and there's lots of good company.
