Daughter Emma took this shot and I thought she did a nice job of backlighting awhile still keeping good front detail. As a kid we would soak cattails in kerosene, light them, and then march around with our torches flaming until the stem finally burnt through and the flaming head (not ours) fell to the ground. Definitely not OSHA approved play...
oh man, you have all the fun. We can't do those kinds of things in CA because it would burn the place down.
ReplyDeleteI used to collect cattails, though and store them in my room until they got all fuzzy and blowing around the house and my mom finally yelled at me to get rid of the stuff but I'm sure she would not have approved of lighting them up as a way of removing them from the premises.
(During the summer I can use run-on sentences if I want.)

ReplyDeleteHey Hick - Didn't anybody tell you about the trick to preserving cattails?? You spray them with hairspray......just don't get them near a candle or POOF!!!
I thought at first it was a grilled hotdog. Another fine picture ... I don't think I've ever seen one of those up close and personal.
