Yup, it's my birthday.

That's me when I was my son's age (14 and 8th grade)...my hair got a lot longer over the next few years. It bugged my Dad, but he tolerated it. He's a good dad.

I know what you're thinking...

...COOL GLASSES!

  1. Ahh, the popular styles of the 70's. Which just goes to show that some things do improve with age!

    Happy Birthday, FC.

  2. Happy Birthday FC! Spc Dude had glasses similar to those in basic training. They called 'em BC glasses for Birth Control! That ought to do it! Good thing you no longer had those when you met Patience! Hope you have a great Day!

  4. Happy birthday... and yep, that's exactly what I was thinking.

Actually I don't have much room at all to talk about cool glasses. I think at that age I had "granny" glasses.

The next year I got contacts and high school life was much better!

  5. Man, you are old!

I just heard on the radio that some studies have shown that Jan. 23rd is the most unhappy day of the year. It's the day most people break their New Year's resolutions, they get the bills from Christmas and it's almost the middle of winter.

Sure hope you have a better day.

    Happy Birthday.

  6. Good complexion, though.

  7. Happy birthday! With those glasses, I immediately saw a resemblance to Rick Moranis in Ghostbusters.

  8. Wow, Happy Birthday! So that's what you look like without the moustache! I also never realized you were a whole 5 months older than me!

  9. Wayne,
Actually, a little of that hair back would be just fine :)

    Lightnin,
LOL. They worked for me too.

    Mac,
Thanks. At work now, spoiling later!

    Rurality,
I didn't get contacts til college, but I did improve my glasses before then.

    Kevin,
Still younger than you! I have heard that about the 23rd...

    Pablo,
Yes, but I should have sunscreened it more!

    Deb,
    I looked again...you're right!

    Dave,
If you look very close there is some fuzz on that youngsters upper lip. I believe I was shaving with an aquarium algae scraper back then.

  11. Happy Birthday. Here's hoping that before long you can be back to clearing and toteing those feed sacks. Nice picture of the clearing - did a lot of that in my younger years. Shucks you are just a youngester. Have a good day and good luck with your daughter's pictures.

  12. JUST when I was going to comment on that stunning picture of the homecoming queen and her dashing escort. FC, this is a sketchy flash to the past. I know you wouldn't go back to 14 and 8th grade. I think that wonderful picture of you and your daughter now needs wider circulation.

Happy, Happy Birthday FC! I hope the shoulder pain has faded to an itch and that you get a great meal, cake and sing-to. Here's wishing you many more great years with your lovely family and the prize little piece of Florida.

  16. DPR and RD,
Thank you. I'm having a little trouble getting it to play, but I will and in the meantime I appreciate the thought!
DPR... glasses like this are best as backups.

    DoubleKnot,
Thanks. Thanks for calling me a youngster too!

    Vicki,
Thanks much. I did go read your post about your surgery. Deja Vu all over again. Whew!

    Dave,
Glad you are back in the states. I'm okay, get to do it again on the 3rd.

    Hoss,
That would be about the right era!

  17. Hippo Birdie Two Ewes!

You know, that picture looks distrubingly similar to my 8th grade picture...lighten the hair to strawberry blond, fem-up the glasses a little and wham! It's me.

    I hit 48 in about 4 weeks...

    Cool glasses.

PS. took a look at your daughter's pictures on Sunday. Why haven't you locked her up?

  22. Hick,
I moved to as rural a spot as you could find in FL, 20 miles from civilization with almost no neighbors and the boys still find her. Current beau is pretty nice...what is he hiding?

  23. I cannot believe how much you and Jr look alike. He is a spitting image...minus the glasses!

  24. Far-out shirt! Peace, Love, and Woodstock! Heheheee!

Looks just like the shirt I had for my Yearbook photo, except mine was a gold color. Class of '73!

Gad! I am one old blogger! Yeesh!
