Another pleasant sign of spring, the redbuds are blooming. This one is in a small town nearby. The redbuds are easy to spot along the roadside forests as most of the other trees are still bare, allowing the redbuds center stage.
Gotta run....much to do.
I'd be envious except that I know that in another month or so, the redbuds will be a-bloomin' up here. With luck, the redbuds and the dogwoods may overlap down at Fallen Timbers.
ReplyDeleteAhhh, Redbuds!!! I'm so glad you posted this picture. I always looked forward to their first blooms in the spring when we lived up there.
ReplyDeleteAre the dogwoods ready to bloom yet?
I think my red buds are caput here in Florida. And here is the comment I left at Hoss's place this morning:
ReplyDeleteMOST EXCELLENT CHOICE, you turncoat. That's okay-I didn't give you an award either. And you're right, FC wrote SOME FINE POST and it was refreshing because it didn't come from one of us waa-waa-waa mommy bloggers. I think he likes that girl...
I like the way you sort of make Florida look under-populated. I hope that doesn't give any more northerners ideas.
ReplyDeleteRedbuds are among my favorite of our understory trees. I've been familiar with them since I was a small child, cupping the leaves in my curled fist and smacking them sharply to make them pop.
ReplyDeleteOurs aren't quite in flower yet, but I see the buds. They're hard to take pictures of and get a good contrast. That's a nice result there!
The redbuds don't bloom here in Ky. until April.
ReplyDeleteI live on a road that has redbud trees along the length of it just growing wild. We also have redbud trees that bloom white and Berea College has them planted alternating white, then red...they are very striking when planted that way.
I'm jealous. We got 6 inches of snow yesterday.
