Sluggish For About 24 Hours

goo

Pure Florida will be kind of static and sluggish for about a day. My Dad fell and broke his toe, so I'm heading over to St. Augustine to help out, cheer up, and encourage him. If you're new here, seek the archives for the Polio post to see this rascal and learn why his leg gives out sometimes.

Gotta go.

I'm sure a visit home will inspire a post of some kind...remember Naked Guy? Posted by Picasa

  1. I'm back into your archives for some history on this man and also hoping the very best for your father- relieved it's a toe and not a hip. Have a safe trip and do that cheery son thing you do. Take care.

  2. I'm sorry. I'll add him to my prayers.

  3. FC-
Tell your Dad we hope he gets well soon. Thunder and I will see you and your family next weekend if all goes as planned.

  5. Hey, check the time of this post. This is my scheduled 25 minute lunch hour each day...starts at 10:25 am. Great fun being a professional educator.

    Vicki,
I know...those elder hip breaks are often the start of a downhill slide. Thanks for the kind words.

    Hick,
    Thanks...it works for me!

    Lightnin,
    Lookin forward to it.

    RD,
    Thanks, I owe you!

  6. Will say a prayer for your Dads speedy recovery.
You must mean the naked guy and the fort.
Those "hippies" on the west coast sure do get up early.

  7. What you got in your hand? Half a flamingo's lunch?

  8. Good luck to your father - a broken toe is nothing to ignore and there doesn't seem to be much the docs can do about them except let them heal.
At least I will get to check out some of your archives.

  9. Hub has broken so many toes and bones that I'm dying to write a post about it all, because it's actually quite hilarious, but he won't let me.

One of these days, maybe I will, lol.

It looks like it's going to be a beautiful weekend in Florida, and the azaleas should be in full bloom as you cross the state. (or are they?)
I seem to remember Palatka having some gorgeous blooms, with Azaleas covering entire yards and the bushes over 10 ft high!
Enjoy your visit with your parents... hope your Dad recovers soon!

  10. Mac,
    Thanks. He's already feeling better.

    Hoss,
Those two slugs were under a log I moved. They slimed me something good...even Dawn detergent wouldn't get it off.

    Doubleknot,
You're right. All he can do for it is stay off it, which is exactly the opposite of his personality.

    Laura,
Palatka does have some nice azaleas, Ravine Gardens comes to mind.
For my book, Savannah in spring wins the azalea prize.

  11. EEEEWWww! You TOUCHED a SLUG?

Best wishes to your Dad. Just having you around for company will be distracting and hopefully keep him put for a while so the bones can start to knit.

See if he'll wear shoes. My husband won't, and he's broken a toe a couple of times and he just keeps re-breaking them when they're halfway healed. OUCH. The faces he makes are amusing, though...from a safe distance.

  12. Leslie,
Well, I won't be touching slugs for a while. These two coated my hand with a viscous slime that even Dawn detergent couldn't remove.

Dad is doing great now, Thanks for the kind thoughts!
