I've made the tough decision to leave the blogosphere until I have finished my National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Certification portfolio. I'm not quitting blogging permanently, I'm not burnt out, or sick of it.
Quite the contrary.
I love talking about Pure Florida, reading your comments, and visiting your sites.
I love it a little too much.
So, I'm out of here until I drop the National Boards portfolio box in the mail. The deadline is March 31st, I have two weeks from today to complete the most intensive deep writing assignment of my life. I'm not behind, but I need to light the afterburners.
Quitting the blogosphere will allow me to focus all my meager brain power and writing time on the National Boards portfolio.
It's just a little act of self-discipline, like the nightly push ups, it'll make me stronger.
So, goodnight y'all, I'll be home when I'm done.
Do I see a koala up there, smokin' a joint?
ReplyDeleteNice pix and commentary on redbird and the lazy oak (below).
I know it will sound something like a challenge, but I'll be surprised if you can stay away from your blog for two weeks.
ReplyDelete(Also, what's a push up? Is that some Southern thing like peanuts in your pop?)

Please know you will be missed. Hurry back.
ReplyDeleteWe'll miss you. Get that thing cranked out so you can come back and write about something fun. We can look for a post on April Fool's Day? God speed.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the boards, but please know you will be missed. It seems there are so many bloggers going on hiatus these days, and I'm kind of a comment junkie, so...
ReplyDeletego do your boards! good luck! i also have something huge due the same day, and am trying to ration my blog visiting [not being a blogger myself]. thanks for the good news you are just on a deadline, not closing shop.
ReplyDeleteDo good and make us proud while you're away!
ReplyDeleteEat your carrots... they're good for the noggin'. And it's ok... we know you're headin' to the beach to party with the spring breakers... we'll keep your secret safe.
ReplyDeleteGood luck and see ya soon!
I hope your time away is as good for you as it has been for us. We're enjoying our hiatus and have found that it frees us for other creative things. I think taking the time to focus on your writing for the boards is an excellent idea. Imagine all that energy, creativity, and attention directed on that one task. Whew, you're going to blow their minds! Good luck and we'll see you when you return.
ReplyDeleteI do believe I'm the master of the blog-hiatus circuit, having gone on quite a few of them this past year, and I completely understand your decision. Do what you have to do and we'll always be here when you're finished! Good luck FC!!
ReplyDeleteCan't blame you for taking time off while you get your writing done. I admire your self-discipline in taking time off from blogging to do it. I know just how addictive this genre is...interactive instant communication and all. Still we will miss Pure Florida until you get back, so get er done if you can. Soonly if possible!
ReplyDeleteThat's really good news/bad news/good news, Cracker.
ReplyDeleteCome back when you can, and Big Ernie bless.
I sure do understand and we'll be right here when you return. Just tap on the bar at Morning Martini and let me know when you're ready to get going again. Good Luck and take care.
ReplyDeleteEven my verification word is bummed out that you are taking a timeout.
VJHSADD It's SADD too.
Get your National Boards portfolio done and we'll be right here waiting for you when you get finished.
ReplyDeleteI got swamped at work again this past week so I had to do a bit of catching up (not necessarily in the correct order):
ReplyDeleteGood job Jr! You guy's (and gal's)always seem to do well with pigs, so I can see his need to challenge himself by trying a steer! Good luck!
Nice looking strawberries, I could almost smell them! I like them quartered with homemade vanilla ice cream!
Beautiful shot of the Cardinal!
Nice pollywogs (tadpoles) too!
It was like spring last week here, but we dropped back down into the 30's again at night over the weekend. It won't be long now though, because the daytime temps are supposed to be on the climb once again this week! OF course we might just get our "normal" Ohio spring with furnace being run on Friday night and the air conditionaer running by that same Sunday night! ;-)
i wll pretend i am on spring break from your class (BLOG) see ya after spring break
ReplyDeleteWe'll be waiting, and looking forward to all upcoming posts.
ReplyDeleteWe're all gonna miss you FC. Hurry back!
ReplyDeleteI will miss your informative, interesting blog. Good luck with your certification and please return to us soon. You are a joy and a wealth of information!
ReplyDeleteJust dropped in to check comments.
ReplyDeleteThank you all for the motivational kindness.
:)
I'm making great progress.
Thanks again for the kind words.
Good decision and self discipline on your part. I like thinking about you progessing professionally, esp. since we have the history of your beginnings as a teacher. I suspect you are one of those friends who, when you meet up again, things take up where they left off, in all the right ways. Me? I am busy carefully removing orange skins and starting seeds. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed! You went four whole days before commenting on comments. 8-]
ReplyDeleteI surely do admire your self-discipline. 'Specially with this fabulous weather we've been having! And all those blooming beauties and migrating birds and butterflies and.....
Wow man, I'm impressed by your dedication and will power! I know that deep down inside the little voice in your head is telling you: "Oh ocme on one little post, just one".
ReplyDeleteHang in there man!
Sorry my fumble fingers got in the way. It should have been: "oh come on...
ReplyDeleteUpdate:
ReplyDeleteMajor progress made. I'm thinking I can return to Pure Florida by Monday. Busy weekend ahead, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Take care.
Woo-hoo! I'm going thru PF withdrawal here.
ReplyDeleteHooray for that Monday return! I have about five blogs that I check more than once a day for updates and Pure Florida is at the top of the list!
ReplyDeleteHow's it goin' FC? Shoot, wouldn't you know just when I'm finally getting my energy/enthusiam back from the depths of of hell, you take a break. Lousy timint for me.
ReplyDeleteAll work and no play makes Jack-missed! Hope the weekend is productive and we see you again soon.
ReplyDeleteKeep writing and use the prospect of returning to the blog as your motivation.
ReplyDeleteBeing the curious one that I am I'll ask the question, what is a board certification portfolio and why do you need one? More $$$ I hope.
I had a really great science teacher like you in high school and she instilled in me a lifelong love of science. I just finished three of Loren Eiseley's books and three by Carl Sagan. Working on one about alleles, DNA and all that confusing stuff.
