I Leave You With This

I've made the tough decision to leave the blogosphere until I have finished my National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Certification portfolio. I'm not quitting blogging permanently, I'm not burnt out, or sick of it.
Quite the contrary.
I love talking about Pure Florida, reading your comments, and visiting your sites.
I love it a little too much.
So, I'm out of here until I drop the National Boards portfolio box in the mail. The deadline is March 31st, I have two weeks from today to complete the most intensive deep writing assignment of my life. I'm not behind, but I need to light the afterburners.
Quitting the blogosphere will allow me to focus all my meager brain power and writing time on the National Boards portfolio.
It's just a little act of self-discipline, like the nightly push ups, it'll make me stronger.
So, goodnight y'all, I'll be home when I'm done.

  2. I know it will sound something like a challenge, but I'll be surprised if you can stay away from your blog for two weeks.

(Also, what's a push up? Is that some Southern thing like peanuts in your pop?)

  5. Good luck with the boards, but please know you will be missed. It seems there are so many bloggers going on hiatus these days, and I'm kind of a comment junkie, so...

  9. I hope your time away is as good for you as it has been for us. We're enjoying our hiatus and have found that it frees us for other creative things. I think taking the time to focus on your writing for the boards is an excellent idea. Imagine all that energy, creativity, and attention directed on that one task. Whew, you're going to blow their minds! Good luck and we'll see you when you return.

  10. I do believe I'm the master of the blog-hiatus circuit, having gone on quite a few of them this past year, and I completely understand your decision. Do what you have to do and we'll always be here when you're finished! Good luck FC!!

  11. Can't blame you for taking time off while you get your writing done. I admire your self-discipline in taking time off from blogging to do it. I know just how addictive this genre is...interactive instant communication and all. Still we will miss Pure Florida until you get back, so get er done if you can. Soonly if possible!

  15. I got swamped at work again this past week so I had to do a bit of catching up (not necessarily in the correct order):

Good job Jr! You guy's (and gal's)always seem to do well with pigs, so I can see his need to challenge himself by trying a steer! Good luck!

Nice looking strawberries, I could almost smell them! I like them quartered with homemade vanilla ice cream!

    Beautiful shot of the Cardinal!

    Nice pollywogs (tadpoles) too!

It was like spring last week here, but we dropped back down into the 30's again at night over the weekend. It won't be long now though, because the daytime temps are supposed to be on the climb once again this week! OF course we might just get our "normal" Ohio spring with furnace being run on Friday night and the air conditionaer running by that same Sunday night! ;-)

  21. Good decision and self discipline on your part. I like thinking about you progessing professionally, esp. since we have the history of your beginnings as a teacher. I suspect you are one of those friends who, when you meet up again, things take up where they left off, in all the right ways. Me? I am busy carefully removing orange skins and starting seeds. Thanks!

  30. Keep writing and use the prospect of returning to the blog as your motivation.

Being the curious one that I am I'll ask the question, what is a board certification portfolio and why do you need one? More $$$ I hope.

I had a really great science teacher like you in high school and she instilled in me a lifelong love of science. I just finished three of Loren Eiseley's books and three by Carl Sagan. Working on one about alleles, DNA and all that confusing stuff.
