Apparently yellow is popular among the spineless clan.
What's your favorite yellow thing?
I'm thinking lemon meringue pie, but I'm open for suggestions.
Yellow lab pups have to be considered too ... not as food of course.
Bananas ... pretty fond of those also.
Extra sharp cheddar cheese is a pretty wonderful yellow thing.
That soft yellow on the belly of a flycatcher, that's a good yellow.
Mustard ... oh yeah.
Hmmm, gold finches, daffodils, my kitchen walls ( I like yellow)
ReplyDeleteBig honking sunflowers face up to the sky, corn on the cob with (yellow) butter dripping off it, Prothonotary warblers, fresh-squeezed orange juice, and *my* kitchen walls!
ReplyDeletePretty popular prickly pear. Your bachelor's button... polygala rugelii perhaps? We have p. nana all over out back.
ReplyDeleteI'm kinda partial to yellow water lilies and dasheen, prothonotary warblers and common yellowthroats, yellow rice with black beans, mango, tiger swallowtails. Oh, and yellow roses are my favourites.
And my truck! 8-]
and now yellow submarine is stuck in my head 8-Þ
ReplyDeleteYou made me think of Donovan's song:
ReplyDeleteYellow is the color of my true love's hair
In the morning, when we rise
In the morning, when we rise
That's the time, that's the time
I love the best.
I was thinking more along the lines of "They call him mellow yellow..." ;)
ReplyDeleteLove that top pic. Is that native or a garden variety?
beer?
ReplyDeleteI second Pablo!
ReplyDeleteActually I was thinking goldfinches. Why do they get so amazingly yellow? And, for that matter, yellow seems to be a warbler theme. Like Sophiemae, I like the yellowthroats.
Lemon meringue pie, goldfinches, sunshine
ReplyDeleteThat's interesting. Of the six yellow items you listed, four are food. Were you hungry when you posted? My favorite yellow would have to be sunflowers. And yellow roses.
ReplyDeleteI prefer gold ground covers
ReplyDeleteToo bad golden flowers are virtually non existent.
Lemon.....ade on a hot summers day. Yellow crook neck squash, pineapple upside down cake. Dang, you triggered my hunger button. Gotta go eat something now.
ReplyDeleteExcellent! Y'all thought of great yellows that completely eluded my meager brain.
ReplyDeleteThreeCollie,
It seems that several of us have yellow walls in the house.
Peggy,
I was eating that very same corn on the cob yesterday ... great choice! How did I skip the Pro. warbler?
Sophie,
I don't know this one's classification. It caught my eye because I'm used to the shorter orangey ones. Yellow rice and black beans ... suweeeet! I could be Cuban.
Robin,
YOU made me think of Donovan, which has not happened in a long time.
Rurality,
Cool song.
It's a native. I found it in Devil's Hammock Preserve.
Pablo,
Why yes, thank you.
Now what about your yellow choice?
:)
Deb,
Oh yeah, goldfinches. Extreme yellow! Pablo, Deb wants a beer too.
Paintsmh,
Ditto. I once had a girlfriend who loved the "smell of sunshine".
We went round and round over that.
Happy birthday again!
Debbie,
High probability ... I stay hungry.
Sweetheart yellow roses, now those are pretty.
AI,
Welcome!
I can't think of golden flowers either. Maybe in afternoon light some of these yellow ones might qualify for a fleeting moment.
lemons, pineapple, black-eyed susans, sunshine, yellow squash, yellow peppers, corn, and my accursed schizophrenic relationship with golden rainshower trees...
ReplyDeleteThe visitor on the prickly pear flower is a member of one of my favorite groups of beetles, the longhorns (Cerambycidae). Yours is probably Strangalia luteicornis, which is very appropriate for this entry, given that luteicornis means "yellow horns." Beautiful photos. I'll pick cloudless sulphur butterflies as my favorite yellow thing.
ReplyDeleteThe soft yellow of little yellow kittens. Next would be the yellow hibiscus in my back yard.
ReplyDeleteLate to the game, but for a winter-weary heart - daffodils - followed closely by a field of dandelions.
ReplyDeleteIf it's food: lemon. Lemonade, lemon bars, lemon meringue pie, lemon zest on so many things - ummmm - lemon.
RCW,
ReplyDeleteYou must have slipped in under the radar. Lemonade! How could I leave that off?
Mel,
Those trees are YOUR nemesis :)
Doug,
Thanks for the ID. I figured someone would know them.
POP,
Very Florida choice, the hibiscus. Nothing says tropical like a hibiscus blossom.
Cathy,
I agree, anything lemon.
