Yellow

Some kind of bachelor button.


Greeneyes.


Prickly pear blossom with company.

Apparently yellow is popular among the spineless clan.
What's your favorite yellow thing?

I'm thinking lemon meringue pie, but I'm open for suggestions.

Yellow lab pups have to be considered too ... not as food of course.

Bananas ... pretty fond of those also.

Extra sharp cheddar cheese is a pretty wonderful yellow thing.

That soft yellow on the belly of a flycatcher, that's a good yellow.

Mustard ... oh yeah.

    Big honking sunflowers face up to the sky, corn on the cob with (yellow) butter dripping off it, Prothonotary warblers, fresh-squeezed orange juice, and *my* kitchen walls!

    Pretty popular prickly pear. Your bachelor's button... polygala rugelii perhaps? We have p. nana all over out back.

    I'm kinda partial to yellow water lilies and dasheen, prothonotary warblers and common yellowthroats, yellow rice with black beans, mango, tiger swallowtails. Oh, and yellow roses are my favourites.

    Actually I was thinking goldfinches. Why do they get so amazingly yellow? And, for that matter, yellow seems to be a warbler theme. Like Sophiemae, I like the yellowthroats.

    That's interesting. Of the six yellow items you listed, four are food. Were you hungry when you posted? My favorite yellow would have to be sunflowers. And yellow roses.

    The visitor on the prickly pear flower is a member of one of my favorite groups of beetles, the longhorns (Cerambycidae). Yours is probably Strangalia luteicornis, which is very appropriate for this entry, given that luteicornis means "yellow horns." Beautiful photos. I'll pick cloudless sulphur butterflies as my favorite yellow thing.

    Late to the game, but for a winter-weary heart - daffodils - followed closely by a field of dandelions.
