There's pickerel weed in bloom on the opposite bank of this ditch, just down from these cattails. If we can get closer, we can get some decent closeups of a favorite flower. The water's pretty shallow at this point and there's a bit of open bank, maybe we should wade across here.
You go first.
Didju see him? Go back and look.
On second thought, and closer inspection of the possible fording site, I think we'll stroll down the bank and see if we can find a different patch of pickerel weed ...
...you go first.
Holy cow! Yes ... I saw the tail on the second look!!!!
ReplyDeleteOk, I see the tail, saw that right away. We are thinking (in our not from their area kind of way) that is perhaps a gator fan? Or maybe an actual gator?
ReplyDeleteI'm positively partial to pretty purple pickerelweed! But I'm truly tremendously tickled by tabby tails.
ReplyDeleteYeah, yeah, yeah... YOU try to alliterate with C's! ;}
Oh, he's only a little one...
ReplyDelete.....Alan.
Pickerel weed observation is much less dangerous here in Minnesotarctica...except for the snapping turtles and muskellunge. And the threat of frostbite.
ReplyDeleteAre we supposed to be scared of a little alligator/croc like that one?
ReplyDeleteI'm glad we don't have alligators in Missouri (except in the zoos).
ReplyDeleteAva,
ReplyDeleteAlways important to watch where you step in reptile land.
ThreeCollie,
Oh, it's an actual gator all right, about 6 feet long and that cleared area is it's hangout.
Alan,
True, but a lot of gator folks will tell you that the 6 footers are the most dangerous because of their speedy ability.
Deb,
I think I'll take gators over frostbite.
Hoss,
I think I need to post a picture of this fella when he's totally out of the water. I have one.
Pablo,
One of these would look great on Danger Island.
And people go to Florida for vacation? Gives a whole new meaning to come over for dinner.
ReplyDeleteWren,
ReplyDeleteNot to mention "waterfront dining"..
Age before beauty, FC.
ReplyDeleteI figured it had to be a gator, but then I thought - could be a really enormous snapping turtle. Either would make me a bit cautious but the devil in me would send those tourists right in.
Wayne,
ReplyDeleteI think that still puts you up front pal.
It's a gator who must have seen me first as this is an unusual head under pose.
That's going rather far for a flower shot. I wonder if the alligators plant those pretty little things?
ReplyDeleteRobin,
ReplyDeleteClever gators ... luring photographers in by planting pickerel weed.
