Same Creek, Before and After Fay

Before.

After.

The water level is up, but the most dramatic change is the addition of tannic acid as the runoff flows through the surrounding swamps.
Still beautiful, just different.

  1. It must be heartening to see the creeks and ponds filling up. Hope you get enough more to get 'em right, but not too much...got something for you today if you get a minute. You were on our minds while we took several shots of these critters.I was most glad that they were on the other side of nice, thick glass

  2. FC-
While reading a certain small town newspaper on line, I noticed two things:
    1) Junior does not go by the name Junior, but the one he went by when he was a very small lad
    2) He caught the touchdown pass the other night! How proud you and Mrs FC must be!(why don't you call her Patience anymore? Has she lost all of that with you?)

The next time you're in the swamp, say "hello" for me.

  4. 3C,
    Thanks for sharing those critters.
The local waterways are up and Ike's outer bands dropped some heavy rains this afternoon as he headed west.

    Ced,
Wow, I thought Fay deluged NC.

    Lightnin,
    1) Yes, he has kept that name and I never call him Junior in real life, it's strictly for blogging.

2)Yes, he did make the touchdown in that first game. Woohoo!
Her patience may need refillin' ...

    HT,
I can't get there either dude. It's killin' me.

  5. Such a neat environment, so different from our South Dakota prairies and hills! Would love to explore that kind of ecosystem.

  7. Cool pics of the river. The color in the after reminds me of the Blackwater near PCB.
Hey Patience may need a refill, but you know Lightnin got that name for a reason too! ;-)
