This armadillo was totally oblivious to the
JEEP even though we stopped right next to him. Obviously he needed re-education on automotive avoidance ... so I hopped out and gave chase.
In this video Bear demonstrates the sheer joy of being Bearrific. The green hole in the ground sans water is my "pond".
Happy Valentines Day to all you lovers.
Our new pup runs circles like that, but they're much smaller, of course. Nice dillo movie. Are they getting habituated to humans down there? A few times I've seen them act as thought they are completely unconcerned with humans, probably "thinking" that their shell will protect them. Other times I see them dart away at the first sign of us.
ReplyDeleteBeary wonderful! And I laughed out loud at the dillo!
ReplyDeleteSorry about the pond though...wish we could send you water.
Bear is such a joy to watch. I love videos of him running, thanks.
ReplyDeleteThat Bear, he reminds me of my Hannah when she was a puppy :)
ReplyDeleteHope all your dishes turned out great for the wedding of the century. You didn't trip in those flip flops, I hope!
get some of that bentonite from pablo and have bear spread it around. maybe the dillo too.
ReplyDeletewedding congrats also. happy bbqing.
Possum on the half shell! Poor little guys aren't very smart!
ReplyDeleteLoved the video of Bear. I wish I had that much energy. I've never encountered an armadillo in the wild. The video did nothing to change my mind that they are dumber than rocks.
ReplyDeleteLoved both videos. They aren't the smartest and I bet they think that hard shell will protect them from a mac truck.
ReplyDeletePablo,
ReplyDeleteUsually they take off. They hear really well, but I think their vision stinks.
3C,
Raining this weekend, but not a pond filler!
Jean,
The sheer joy of movement isn't it? I love to watch him do that.
Swampy,
I didn't trip, but I did lose them a time or two.
roger,
great idea. i'll just tie a bag on his back and let him go. maybe pablo will rent him.
Tsiya,
Just smart enough to do armadillo business.
Doug,
Kinda resemble them too.
Chriss,
They must, because they jump straight up when you run over them.

ReplyDeleteI've eaten baked armadillo; it tasted like very dry roast beef.
ReplyDeleteBear is a joy to behold!

I didn't want either video to end. Bear is a beauty. I do the 'dillo treatment thing to fox squirrels, which tend to be slow and dim and just want to be one with my car. I jumped out to holler and chase one that was moseying across the road, returned 20 min later to find him flat in the same place, but facing the other way. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteChet Baker gets his ya ya's out chasing deer. He had a big buck today and was running so fast all four feet splayed and he skidded about five feet on his brisket! Best part: he turns back toward home the minute they go into the woods.
you and bear both made me laugh. thank you. :-)
