Close Enough

How can something that big, disappear so fast?

How can it take so long to get back to shore when it only took a minute to wade out there?

These are the questions my friends...

  1. I'm assuming you were in a boat/kayak. Otherwise, we would not be seeing this video...

A lot of non-natives underestimate the speed an alligator can move - they look so big and lazy. Let this video be a reminder that things aren't always as they appear!

  3. Good afternoon FC,

I would be more concerned about how fast they can back out of the water.

  4. That should read: how fast they can come back out of the water.

  5. What does it feel like not being at the top of the food chain for a moment?

  6. Gators eat locals? Thought they only eat Yankees.

  8. Sayre,
No vessel this time. Fleet feet though. Also, not as super close as the surfacing gator part implies.

    Dani,
She's a big Gator fan ... I'm not sure. LOL!

    Karl,
They are really fast in the short haul.

    Pablo,
Well, I live with Bear, so I'm sorta used to it.

    Patio,
I agree, except for the use of the word, "little".
    LOL!

  10. I guess when you are a dinosaur you can do anything! Or you are just built to be in the water...

OH and yes, I can see your video!

  12. Now I'm not sure which is worse, this or the tall ladders... eek!

  13. That's a close encounter, FC. Any closer and I'd be very nervous.

  14. Ericka,
They have never come near my canoe, even when they suddenly slipped into the water. My kayak is barely out of the water and makes me a little more cautious.

    Cindy,
    FC-saurus Rex!

    Dave,
    Yes. This one looked full.

    Rurality,
Funny you should mention that ladder ...

    Robin,
No problem, I was nervous enough for both of us. You see that camera swing around and go fuzzy?
    LOL!

  15. Funny how getting out takes so much longer than going in. So glad you managed the round trip!

  16. Sophie,
That whole round trip thing is pretty important to me.
