Clarification Of The Barn Owl Shot.

The barn owl in the photo was a rehab animal that some wildlife rehabber friends of mine had put in an old barn on Cockspur Island where I Rangered. The idea was to acclimate the animals (there were actually two) back to life in the wild, and what better place than an old storage barn in a national park. They did not tell me what was in the barn, just that I should go check it out.

So I really did get the whole "surprise" effect in a dark barn, but it wasn't my barn on my piece of Pure Florida. I wish! I have never seen a barn owl, just barred owls on my property.

I didn't want any of my readers to think it was a zoo shot with a made up story. All the photos...fuzzy or sharp, on Pure Florida are taken by me. No stocks, no stolens, no zoo shots unless the post is about a zoo!

Stories here are true. Photos are real. Life in Pure Florida is too rich to have to fake it.

That owl photograph made such an impression on me that I dreamed about photographing owls last night. I was following a great-horned owl throughout the night, its shadowy image was on rooftops and flying through the trees. Always a little indistinct and out of focus, which is perfect for an owl dream.

You have inspired me to do a little nature blogging. My pictures aren't as wonderful as yours, but it's a start.

Thing,
Thanks. That was an impressive post on the bandaide yesterday.

RD,
Hope you got the shot of your dreams :)

Hick,
I think I can speak for everyone when I say we can't wait to see your photos! Go for it!

I dunno. Ever since you admitted that the photo of you on the ATV was flipped, I've been skeptical. And that photo of you on the long ladder -- well, that had to be a fake photo. No one could be that crazy!

Anonymous Pablo,
The flipped photo was because Walmart can't get it through their pointy megalomart brain that slides have to be loaded correctly in a scanner...arrrrgh!
I'm thinking about an extension for my ladder...I knew I should have bought the 40 footer.
