The Plant Pun...Revised for Fairness

This may flop, but here goes...Can you figure out this plant pun?

EDITED ON 9/27 AT 6:39 PM....I THINK THE OPTIONS NEED TO BE NARROWED (although Thing's idea was clever). FIRST, THE PUN REPRESENTS THE NAME OF A FAMOUS PERSON, BUT IF YOU ARE UNDER 40 SOMETHING, YOU MAY NEVER HAVE HEARD OF HIM.

HINT: FOLK SINGER...ACOUSTIC GUITAR...BEARD (or was it a goatee?)

.....I told you this might flop.

REVISED AGAIN AT 8:37 PM ON 9/27... HINT: "LITTLE BITTY TEAR"Posted by Picasa

Lumpy Ivy.....Diseased creeper....hmmmmm

Yes, Burl Ives or BI as Pablo slyly noted.

Thanks for playing.

Today people look on Burl Ives as a grandfatherly, kindly old gent. But in his day, wasn't he active in radical politics? Something of a firebrand? Seems like that was the case.

Pablo,
Not anonymousPablo I see...
I was a little kid and he was some of the background music in our house. I only know him in the kindly old gent way.
I know Carl Sandburg was fond of him.

Just made it here scanning through this fantastic blog.

I thought, that's easy, woody gut three. Then I find it's even better than that.

Congrats on your double enpundre, FC.
