Sorry for the short posts...I have been busy as a bee.
These bees were busy on Cockspur Island, Georgia. This is the only "bee tree" I have ever come across. The forest canopy overhead was dense enough that these bees did not feel the need for the typical hollow tree.

Oh my! Bees indeed. I wonder if Hick (Bee-mused) has seen this yet.
Just letting you know I've scrolled down several posts and loved the fishing pics with your dad and uncle, and later of yourself. Good to hear you're busy and not out of commission somehow.
Looking forward to your next not-so-busy post. :)
Thanks Weary,
I really hate not posting daily. Just need to catch up on all this life stuff first.
Wow. We had ones of these "hives" in an apple tree my brothers and I used to climb when we were little boys. We took turns throwing apples at it, and damned if the bees objected to this. After my brother was stung on the face, my father cut the tree down. (I don't think he liked all of the apples on the ground when he mowed the yard either.)
Pablo,
Bees can be so unreasonable...
Hey, did you and Blogger kiss and make up?
So it seems. I haven't had the problem with leaving my name at any of my usual blogger sites in the last few days. Maybe I just needed to take my iBook to California for three days to fix the problem. (But like me, it never saw the outside of the hotel. The damned conference could have been in Boise for all of the glamor of the location!)
It has been several years since I have seen, or heard, a hive of wild bees here. The mites got 'em all.
Pablo,
Whatever the reason, I'm glad you are not incognito any more.
Swamp,
Same here. I was so excited to see real honey bees drinking at my faucet this spring...lots of them.
Beautiful image. Reminds me I've got to get back and check out the hive of wild bees I found a while back.
Oh my goodness! I have never seen anything like that bee-fore. I will bee linking this to an email that I am sending to my Bee friends (a small group of women I belong to.) They will love it.
Wow!!
Did I say Wow!!
Wow!!
My friend Hickbee sent me to your sight...great, by the way!
That is one huge bee-hive!
Signed,
Yupbee
