A Chicken In Every Pot

Vader eyeing the
new chicks on their
first post egg
day.

The day of the chicks we scrambled to find something to put mom and babies in. The answer that day was my old havahart trap.

The trap with mom and chicks is to the left in this picture. The trap was up on a patio table...with our usual assortment of junk.

Vader the rooster was fascinated by the chicks and came up on the porch to check them out. He wound up sitting in that large pot for a while just watching the new arrivals.

I have the weirdest chickens. Posted by Picasa

Chickens are weird, period. It's a wonder we humans put up with them.

I wonder what that rooster was thinking, if a rooster could think...
"I love when Floridacracker takes my picture. I am a handsome devil, ain't I?"

Hm. Could it be that Vader was also thinking of future late night romps? Great picture ... He is, after all, a handsome sucker.

Hick,
Cheep is good!

RD,
He is a strikingly beautiful bird. Walks around like he knows it.

Weary,
Yes, these roosters "romp" quite a bit. Poor hens.

"...we scrambled to find something..."
Now really, FC, is scrambled the best word choice when discussing chicks freshly hatched from their eggs? ;)
