Tremors and fried chicken and toll house cookies- now that's a great evening at home! I'll get on this shortly. :-)

I love the gator storeis- they're as good as fish stories. That is a HUGE gator head in the bottom picture! Remind me again what I should remember about alligator eggs all being one sex and then the deeper ones in the dirt hole are female? Is that right or am I nuts? I have a vague memory of learning this on an airboat ride on the Myakka River...

Vicki,
Eggs that incubate at 90 degrees F and above develop as males, Cooler eggs tend to be females. It makes sense that deeper eggs would be cooler and therefore female.
Rufus actually had home video of that big gator when it was still alive, but freshly captured. It was dinosaurian! Sort of.

Hmmm.... "Kungpao Chicken" ah...

R.Powers said...

Walter,
I think Kungpao was rated as the worst (high fat) item on the Chinese menu, but it's too good...moderation works for me.
Thanks for the good post on the Government plan to ID all our livestock. I wasn't aware of that until I read your post. What a ridiculous plan by Uncle.

grrrrr, you just had to get even, didn't ya. LOL!

Ok, I'll get right on it, but I might not be able to post it till later today or tomorrow! things are crazy here right now!
Agree with you about the music albums tho, especially Jimmy Buffet. Isn't it interesting that when we used to buy albums, we never dreamed that one day a tiny little Ipod could hold hundreds (or thousands) of songs!

Laura,
What goes around, comes around :)

Not to worry...I took 3 days after Rurality tagged me. It's crazy here too.
As for the music, it is amazing how our storage methods have changed. I had an 8 track player in highschool and thought that was the pinnacle of musical tech.

Thing,
I chose that word purposefully to illustrate how unmusical I am. I figured Deb would be the one to roast me on that one...

Deb said...

well, no wonder, all that stuff you listed (except Buffet) IS FLUFF! Thingfish, you & I gotta work together to teach this guy a thing or two about real music.

Karen Schmautz said...

Music is fluff? I'm not convinced Jimmy Buffet is real music either...but I still like him.

I can't believe a guy that is as artistic as you does not appreciate good music. (Don't shoot me, I'm only a piano player.)

I would love to have your mom's heirloom dressing recipe...unless it's a family secret.

Black Sabbath...I'm impressed.

Tomorrow I'm older than you.

R.Powers said...

Kevin,
Remember the Sabbath concert...you, me, and Billy. I believe the Skyhooks opened for them. (These brain cells escaped annihilation)
Happy Birthday in advance!

Deb,
Steppenwolf and Black Sabbath Fluffy? Okay.... Maybe this will save me, I once owned an 8 track of "The Dillards"...."What's Time To A Hog, Caney Creek"...real blue grass. I'm hopeless.

Hick,
That's an Elton John album title. About the salad dressing...my mom's family kept an Italian boarder when she was little,(1940's) he shared a simple Italian dressing that we eat about 3 times a week. I'll have to check and see if it's okay for the world to know. Moms rule you know.

Deb said...

Okay, you've redeemed yourself. I was just watching an Andy Griffith Show DVD tonight featuring The Dillards as those boys who never said anything but played some damn good music.

Maybe I just have this thing about screaming electric guitars...I have very sensitive ears. The kids are putting them to the test tonight.

Rurality said...

I must be the only person in the world who doesn't like Jimmy Buffet. It's almost illegal here not to like him. I don't dislike him... just don't care for that music!

Good movies list! :)

R.Powers said...

Deb,
Whew!

Rurality,
We'll just let that be our little secret...

Karen Schmautz said...

Elton John...Heh! I was talking about you shooting me (but I do own the album.)

And, moms do rule. Don't give out their secrets because if'n mama ain't happy...ain't nobody happy. (I don't think that's a song.)

Hick,
I left Sir Elton off my list, but I do like his old stuff.
