(wifely creation)

This Turkey Pot Pie was very timely last week. Can you imagine why? Posted by Picasa

College basketball? Sunspots? Something to do with cats?

An anniversary of some foolish antic committed by The Author?

I love turkey pot pie.

um, in addition to weighin pigs for the fair, you also weighed in the local turkey?

If this were a real test, you guys would be in trouble...

Your wife called you a turkey? Turkey hunting season began?

Rurality said...

Oh wait, I know. You accidentally ran over a Florida panther. You cooked it up, disguised it in a pie, and told the kids it was turkey. Right?

Last week was the start of Lent, anything to do with that? I'm pretty Catholic and I don't remember anything about the ashes on Ash Wednesday being made from overdone turkey...as a matter of fact, let me just say ew!

Like earthquakes, the secret's in the crust.

It's got to have something to do with sports. Is the turkey the mascot of Florida U or are wild cats the mascot? Big game coming up? Isn't football season over? Is this about basketball and March madness? I have no idea. But that turkey pot pie looks delicious.

Maybe this test is too Floridacentric to be fair...

Is that FU? Sounds rude.

I thought it said EU and I was thinking the European Union pulled some turkey stunt.

HEY... Does it have to do with bird flu? Eat up!

R.Powers said...

Hmmmm, my testing standard must be unfair.

The crusty message was geared towards my kids more than the adults in the family...actually, any kid in Florida would immediately get that crust message.

Every comment I've made has been laden with clues....

You are part of the upper crust now in your community?

arrg, I'm from Florida and I can't even guess!!

hanging head and scuffing the dirt with my shoe. geez.
Ok, my last guess: It's what your wife thinks of FSU! LOL

or, hmmm, turkey hunting season just opened up?

Laura,
Have Samantha or Brit look at the turkey pot pie crust. They will know.

Pablo,
Cat is warm.

Wayne,
My foolish antics are commemorated with bandaids and stitches.

Rurality,
Fl Panther tastes just like chicken, not turkey.

DPR,
Well, noooooo....

Mountainbike,
Not lent although the kids would probably love to give this up!

RD,
It was delicious. Nothing to do with sports even though my wife is a sports nut.

Leslie,
Nothing too rude here...everything I post has to pass the HICK test...well most of it anyway.

Abandoned,
You know that slightly overdone bottom crust? That's me.

Florida Cats, Funny cats, Franklin cats , Florida Crackercats???

There's an F and a picture of a cat on the crust.

FCAT

Knowing Mrs. FC, I'm sure she likes the answer by abandoned in pasadena. I like it better too, but I still think it's the Florida College(i think) Aptitude Test.

Kevin is right- you survived administering the FCATs. Teach on...

R.Powers said...

Kevin (supported by Vicki) has gotten it. The FCAT is the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test that has taken over education here in FL. It is the supreme being according to the state and if you don't pass it, you don't graduate.

Our kids take it each year from grades 3-11 and the pressure on them (and teachers) is absurd.

The turkey pot pie with the "F" and the "Cat" was just a lighten the mood meal the night before the test.

Thanks for playing along.

Oh, the F-ing standardized tests. I should have known. They take so much humanity out of the classroom.

Sorry I have a hard time writing right now; I have a semi Siamese cat on my lap who's been traumatized by the introduction of a yellow lab pup into the household.

R.Powers said...

Deb,
You hit the nail on the head.
Hey, if that gorgeous lab pup is too traumatizing, just slap a stamp on her but and mail her to me!

Im just thankful they didn't have that when I was in school in St. Pete. It was bad enough when I scored in the top 3% on the Sr. placement test and came in at the bottom 5% of my graduating class. The guidance counselors didn't understand ADD back in '59.

Does anyone think Bush would have passed? "I failed F-CATS and I'm still President." And ya'll are right about the pressure on the kids. My nieces hate life every year about this time...then they get Spring Break--kinda like a reward for our education system treating them so crappy.
Thank gawd we didn't have to do this garbage. SAT's were bad enough!

Leslie said...

Oh, heavens to Betsy.
It's an F and a Cat, not an E and a U.
I wouldn't have gotten it anyway, but...

Cute idea for dinner :)
