It's Saturday night and I just made the "Every Saturday Night" Chinese stir fry. It was delicious, especially since in running errands today I somehow missed eating anything after breakfast ( A Belgian waffle with good Yankee maple syrup). No lunch, no snacks ...
Where's the puzzler you say?
It was a day of errands, ... to town for a bank errand, then off to the Swamp for a trip to SAM's and Home Depot.
The puzzler has something to do with these two photos of course.
I went to SAM's because tomorrow evening is our annual New Years Eve Food And Pyrotechnics Party and I needed 30 pounds of wings, beaucoup carrots, celery, sparkling cider, etc. for the big event. It's NOT a big booze event, although we grownups may have margaritas this year. (If Jose shows up.) The focus here is more on family, friends, and food ... lots of food.
The puzzler photos show something that occurred in my backyard last week.
After SAM's, I headed to Barnes & Noble burn up a gift card on the new edition of Mother Earth News and a word card game called, "Quiddler". I don't play cards, but this caught my eye while Christmas shopping for other people and I made a mental note (do you misplace those too? ) to go back and get it if Santa brought me a gift card.
So what do the photos show? That is the puzzler now, isn't it?
After B & N, I cruised over to Home Depot to use that gift card to buy some two inch PVC pipe for a tree frog schoolyard survey I'm going to do with my seventh graders after the holiday break. It's a cooperative venture with the USGS. It should be fun and it may teach them patience as we have a brand new school site with almost no trees and semidesert landscaping. Not a very tree frog friendly site yet.
I warned you in the title that this was a random post ...
What do the photos show?

PAC-MAN!!!!!
I think Jr. just might have a light saber there...although I don't know how it would tie in with the rest of the post!
Looks like someone is practicing his/her light saber maneuvers.
Y'all are so good, I went ahead and posted the answer!
See above.
I had a big Chinese lunch today myself.
Then came home to wield the Dun Hagan light saber all afternoon in the form of a Stihl chainsaw. Not much for light effects, but it did cut through everything I put it to. Going to be a big brushpile deposit tomorrow if I'm able to get out of bed!
.....Alan.
I would never have guessed, but got here after the answer was up.
However, I am all agog about the tree frog survey being a big frog fan, with a special spot in my heart for tree frogs....which leads to my question. What is the pipe for? A froggy jungle gym? A herptile water slide? A hiding place?
Hehe...Jr. would be offended by my guess -- I thought it was a flashlight of some sort.
Alan,
May the force be with you! You'll need it in this 8o+ degree winter weather.
ThreeCollie,
Your last guess was right on. You stick the pipes in the ground and then monitor the treefrogs that use the pipe as a day hiding spot. USGS has a site where the kids can upload their results to share.
Swampy,
You would not believe this lightsaber. It's movie prop quality. About the only thing it doesn't do is sever limbs ... but that's probably a good thing.
If it's LOTR or Star Wars, he's nuts for it.
The forming of PACMAN!!!! Hahaha.

This has me interested as we surely don't lack for tree frogs around this place. Would you send me the URL for the USGS site about the frog count?
.....Alan.
