Osprayer

This should not be,
this metal tree.
I miss the feel of wood
on talon ...so good.
God, grant me this wish
(... and lots of fish),
Just a few tall, real trees,
I'm not hard to please.
Give us a place to nest,
and we'll do the rest.
Amen.
Why yes, I do speak Osprey ... don't you?
It's Blog Action Day and the theme is the environment.
Here at Pure Florida, that theme is our guiding mission on a daily (almost) basis.
I'm not much of a bloggy, let's all do this at once sort of guy, (don't waste your meme's here), but I confess to jumping on this bandwagon today.
Have an excellent Monday.

  1. Roadkill Poetry? Surely you jest.

Feh, whatever. Glad you made it back from your misleadingly mischievous mission.

  2. We did the Environmental Blogging Day too. We are not optimistic that your beautiful osprey will have the real trees it prays for.

  3. Second (and more optimistic) verse:

But I kind of like the humans,
and SOME of the things they do.

There's no doubt we can co-exist beneath the skies of blue.

I HAVE made adjustments, as their coastal numbers grew.

In fact, my favorite perch on Troll Island, is on a cross of steel blue.

So, I sit atop my Church perch, and know that one thing's true.

The God that made us raptors, made those humans too.

If the smarter humans prevail, they'll always see me soar.

And maybe I'll get a chance to poop upon loud-mouthed moron hypocrites like Fat Albert and Tipper Gore!

(Editor's note 1): The church-loving raptor who wrote this poem is technically an American Bald Eagle, and not an Osprey.)

  5. Doc,
    Thanks ... I think.

    Robin,
This is a highly adaptive bird. I think they'll be okay, but I'm sorry they have to adjust.

    Kathy A,
Thanks. I had ten minutes to do something this morning. I'm sure there were more substantial blog posts today.

    Artful,
Well, sure if you're an osprey, adapting is a do-able endeavour,
it's the snail kite and beach mouse who may be lost forever.

    ThunderD,
Went out to eat with a cute chick, did some early Christmas shopping, and enjoyed no schedule.
Then I went to Cedar Key ...

  7. Thanks for the poetry and posts. They're great. I do hope though that WE are the ones who will have to adjust....I wish anyway. I've been looking in here for a while now and liking what I see ...all except for those dreaded words......

    Christmas shopping???

    Argh!

    Have a peaceful day today.

    Ruby,
    Welcome to Pure Florida!
