Birds Along The Santa Fe

I think I can milk one more post from last week's canoe trip down the Santa Fe.


In the picture above, a limpkin demonstrates it's ability to be a cypress knee.

Here's a closeup view of a limpkin studying cypress knees to improve his technique.

The judge was not impressed.


This hawk (Coopers?) had just finished hopping along the water's edge and even through a hollow stump. He seemed to be pursuing something,... maybe skinks or frogs.

I missed that "hawk inside a stump" pic of course.
