Dog Doing Deer Defence Duty

Feather on deer deterrent duty.
Her method seems to work ... apparently the sound of an old, chubby dog snoring is unpleasant to deer ears ... so far, no deer have come up on to the porch .
Short post this morning as I have to get Junior in to school early for an FFA vegetable judging contest at the University of Florida.
Tomorrow, he and I will compete in the Wild Hog Canoe Race ... ouch ... I can already feel the bruises and lacerations awaiting me.
Have a great Friday!

Get plenty of pix of the canoe race, and the lacerations.

Feather is only slightly less effective in chasing them away than my dog. I let me dog off the leash to chase a deer away and he ran towards the deer .. and then right by them. Apparently something further up the road had caught his attention, such as it is.

lol.. not one but three deer he stopped from coming on the porch. good dog! too funny. i have one like that too. Sleeps right at the front door. Protecting me. So much so i can't get outside if he's in a deep slumber!

I love your header photo of Feather and Flounder in the tall grass. They are happy and beautiful - a testament to their environment of freedom and good care.

You didn't happen to be in the Archer Publix parking lot sometime after 8:00PM tonight (Friday)? I did a double take, and my girlfriend thought I was crazy when I said "I think I just saw Pure Florida guy"!

I called my parents, and they thought I was a little less crazy, and confirmed that you were headed to Gainesville.

Sounds like our anti-vampire plan: we keep garlic in the kitchen at all times for cooking and I've yet to see a vampire in our house. :)

I was not aware that Wild Hogs made servicable canoes...

Pablo,
Probably post paddle pain pics. The race is too wild to risk the Sony.

Mark,
I find distractability to be one of dogdom's finer qualities.

Jojo,
Great dogs sleep alike!
:)

Lightnin,
That's just wrong girl.

Susan,
You're very kind. I hope my dogs feel that way :)

Daniel,
Yup, that was me. I was grabbing some protein bars and an energy drink for tomorrow's canoe race.
Good spotting.

Alan,
I've had the same experience with garlic and vampires.

Cute turtles, we've got the ones with the pointy noses, box & snappers. Those are some interesting caterpillars, would be easy to walk past'em. Sit UBU Sit,good dog!

Bro J,
We have those pointy headed ones too!

3C,
Yes, she's well trained.
We'll need a bit of luck so thanks!

Gotta love an old Lab - she's perfected her method over years, I'm sure!
