My mom hates crows. Don't ask me why. But I think they're cute!

They speak a different language down there...

Ooh, I see a theme developing...

With those two different tones, that crow sounds like he's talking to himself, then answering back...

Looking forward to tomorrow's installment

I'd read once that crows can have up to 75 different vocalizations that hold specific meanings. Like a couple of others noted, your crows have a call I haven't heard up here in the Midwest.

I adore crows. There used to be a family of crows that lived nearby, and they would come to my yard when I whistled to let them know that I had put some food out. Sadly, a lot of crows in our area were killed off by the West Nile Virus a few years ago. They have made a comeback, but they are still not plentiful in my neighborhood.

Is that a common crow or a fish crow? My bird book says the best way to tell them apart is by vocalization, but then they were kind of vague on what the differences were. It is different than the crows I've heard around here.

Crows are the smartest bird, if not the prettiest.

Crows are wonderful- smart and sassy, clever and conversant. I admit, I also love the dog on the chicken coop.

White. Egrets? Ibis?
Oh,oh- I just remembered! We have a copperhead living at the Asheville house. Pretty exciting.

Just checking in. I need to call you sometime to have you talk me through loading videos. I've got a couple of them that SPC Dude took during the Olympics!

HT,
I like them too.

Freste,
McCrowpie?

Swampy, I would not put it past them.

Patti,
I have never gotten close to one. Envy.

3C,
Yes, we do!

Bee,
He does sound like that, and being a crow ...

Pablo,
So much for the "caw, caw" stereotype!

Miz S,
I do too. My wife the public health pro sees them as west nile vectors too.

Robert,
When the light hits them just right, they have some neat colors.

Deb,
Could be a fish crow ... I always thought the difference was size ... kinda fuzzy on that one.

Vicki,
I love that dog too.
Cool that you have a copperhead! Such a beautiful snake.

Dave,
Anytime dude!
Well, not China time!

So, this bird had something to crow about?
