Dani,
No, a young cabbage palm that I dug up on my property and have attempted to transplant. The books say don't try to do that when they are young, but ... why not try?

Robin,
Doesn't the first foto look like a creature of some kind?

Cabbage palm? Mmmnnmm! Hate ter say it, but we'uns eat the heart of that palm! Yeah, we git out in the back end of the nowhar' side of the huntin' lease and find a good specimen...mmm!

Aunty,
You like it? I find it a little too much like tofu ... texture, but no taste.

"FEEEEED ME SEYMOUR!" LOL

Did you actually plant it in the bark, or are you using the bark as mulch? Or am I just reading too much into it?

A for effort!

FC,
You'll be pleased to know that "otolith" complete with your photo illustration, is the honored science Word Of The Week at Lincoln Academy.
My science tchr friend sends his compliments, he had no clue what I was giving him this week.

Sharon,
Definitely a resemblence... I was tempted to draw little eyes on it.

Bee,
I just used a fallen oak tree as a contrasting background. I planted it in a new location. I'll let you know if it survives.

Robert,
A+ if it survives!

Caroline,
We rock! That is too cool.
I'm sure we can find something else odd and obscure as we go along.
