Flotsam and Jetsam ... No Lagan Of Course, We Are Walking, Not Diving

The wonder of a beach ... one of the wonders of a beach is the everchanging nature of this interface.
Not only is the beach itself changed by each wave, the oddities that those waves and currents toss up onto the beach are constantly shuffled and renewed.
You just never know what you will find there.

There were three of these lying about not too far where some folks were letting there dog frolic in the waves. I assumed the two things were connected.

Here, a moonsnail has left a promise of more moon snails to come ... an egg case nestled in the sand.

Sometimes the waves get all artsy on us and arrange shells and ripples in ways to catch our eye.
This one caught mine.

There were dozens of baby black mangroves sprouting on the beach. I felt sorry for them since they could never survive a high energy beach like this. They needed to be swept inside the inlet and ride the tide to a calmer, marshy site where they have a chance of digging in.

If you watched the videos yesterday, you know the sea was pretty busy with lots of sloppy wave action. This created an abundance of sea foam which was blowing about in the chilly breeze and mist.
Maybe I was a little thirsty by then, or maybe it was all that foam, but ...

... I had a sudden craving for a Yuengling.

I settled for unsweet ice tea since I had to drive for a couple of hours.

Actually, I settled for an unsweet tea and a wonderful BBQ Beef Brisket sandwich from this place at the intersection of US-1 and CR- 206.
No swiping ... cash only and you can only take out.
It was very good though.

Fortified with seagulls and bbq, I headed home.

Great! Another restaurant to try. It's hard for me to find good BBQ. I still remember my dad's ribs and my mom's sauce!

Another fine post. Sadly, one cannot buy that beer west of Illinois. I wish I had realized that when I was there back in the early summer.

I'm constantly amazed by what the Caribbean across the street from me washes our way. Sometimes disgusting, some enthralling but always interesting. My favorite is the mystery of the one flip flop. Where do they all come from?

Okay--when I saw Flotsam and jetsam my first thought was DISNEY! LITTLE MERMAID! woo--I am so Disney crazy. Cool post Mr.FC! I didn't respond to your living room one but CONGRATS!!! I can't wait to see it!! Tell the family I say "hi" and I miss you all way down in south Florida. Can't wait to be back @ school with Emma and the rest of the gang!

You are making me miss the ocean and the beach. Stop it right now.

Hey, is today your last day? Or do you have to teach through Tuesday like me?

I really like the minimalist beauty of the photo of the green tennis ball on the wet sand.

It is funny how the mangrove baby looks a little like one of those shells... don't know the name but to move, the critter inside looks like it's sticking a tongue and pulling itself along with it.

Cindy,
I wish you were there too driving my JEEP. I trust you since you didn't break it in the Hammock.

roger,
yes, words to live by.

Sophie,
Glad you liked it so much. Those are horse tracks in it ... which confuses me as the county outlawed beach horses after an 8th grade peer of mine was killed by one long ago.
Maybe the memory has faded.
Unties? blush.

Rick,
All I can vouch for are the beans, brisket, and tea, but it was really good.

Patti,
I hope ... I think ... my kids will remember my ribs that way too.
Try this place out.

Pablo,
Like Coors back when I was in high school.

Ericka,
MMMMMm BEACHES and BBQ!

IslaG,
Welcome to Pure Florida! Yes, you just never know. I've seen the disgusting part too!

Laura,
I think most folks your age have that thought when they hear those words. Katie made me watch it so much when she was little that I could recite the whole movie even now.

Miz S,
Thursday, not Friday turned out to be my last day ... explanation tomorrow.

3C,
Oops, sorry ... well, I wish I had some snow so we're even.
heehee

Doug,
me too ... I cropped it but not sure I should have ... it was really minimal in the vast greyness.

Rurality,
I see it too. It's not that different I suppose.

Thunder,
I'm so used to the sound of you drooling that I hardly notice anymore.

Aunty,
Glad you came along.
We go to them, since they are older and the ride is a long one.

We've almost stopped at that little BBQ place a few times. Since we don't normally carry cash I guess it wouldn't have done us any good! I have almost stopped to take pictures of the big pig by the front door. It just looks like a place to get good BBQ. Best I ever had was from a tiny trailer on the side of the road in Georgia - they had pulled pork and one sauce and those were your only options.
