It Bee Plum Springy Around Here

I was standing next to my garden patch the other day, chatting with the pig, restraining Bear from the nearby taunting chickens, and generally enjoying the gorgeous day when I noticed a buzzing in my head.
Only, it wasn't in my head, it was above it.
The wild hog plum tree that I had planted as seed years ago was in full bloom ... a white cloud of flowers tethered to the ground by the tree's twisty trunk.
In it, swarms of bees were enjoying some of the first blossoms of the season.

I shot this short video to share with you. Turn the volume up to hear the buzz.
You might also hear dog pants, and pig grunts since both were nearby.
What else do you hear?

Beautiful plant! I think I also hear footsteps and what sounds like water.

I am happy....my river birch made it through it's first winter! Tiny bits of green are popping out. My elephant ear is coming back too. I'm partial to that plant. I planted the original over 30 years ago and brought this one when I moved here two years ago. I will have to wait and see on the others. It doesn't look good tho.

Fun post: and timely. Spring is hear (it's green out down in the Big Cypress), in fact we probably got it earlier than you, with us being down south. Idea for future post: video and transcript of your conversation with the pig! (I'm an idea guy)

I went to a bee seminar this past week end. What amazing creatures they are. Glad there is no shortage at PF. Guess it is that all you can eat buffet you provide.

Is that a tufted titmouse singing in the background? Our hog plums are starting to bloom, as well. LOVE this time of year!

3C,
I musta had my poetic license thingie working ...LOL!

Marge,
Okay, but there will be chores. Laundry or kitchen duty?

Patti,
I hope your heirloom elephant ear makes it!

Robert,
It's not a video, but there actually is a post of a conversation with a previous pig. Somewhere in the archives ...

Sharon,
Thanks!

Robin,
Several people have mentioned the water sound, but I'm no where near water in this location. Funny.

Kathy A,
Thanks! So good to see a crowd of bees anymore.

ArkPatti,
Well, one thing they can count on here is the absence of pesticides.

Sophie,
Easily could be.
I saw my first humbirds at my brother's wedding about ten days ago.

Whew, for a moment I thought you had a talking pig too!
Hey I meant to tell you nice atlatl, I can't wait to see a demo!

I hear myself backing carefully away from the bees, trying to avoid being noticed by them just in case they get belligerent. I don't like any flying insect with the ability to sting or bite me - too small to efficiently fight back against them and too fast to avoid. At least I can see a charging hippo coming, lol.

That is a wonderful video and this blog is a terrific breath of fresh air.

I heard a definite farting noise.. I can only assume that was you?

Well, you did ask;)

ThunderD,
I will give you a running headstart.

Alan,
A little beephobia?

KiS,
Thank you and Welcome to Pure Florida!

Lady Jane,
I am innocent. If you have been around pigs much, you know they are quite the flatulators.

Innocent or no, those last three comments together made me laugh until I cried :)

Sharon,
And that laughing reduced your blood pressure and probably added some time to your life.
The bill is in the mail.

We listened and thought we heard a pig plus some frogs in the background.
