I'm Working Dang It!

Apparently there is some doubt about whether I am working or ... ,on vacation.
All week long I've gotten phone calls and texts ... and yes, blog comments that imply I am just having too good a time to actually be working.

Even my daughter Kate has blatantly accused me of being "on vacation". She had the nerve to text that accusation to me as I sat in the Tiki Hut sipping a Coors with my fellow workmates this evening.
I was going to call her back and straighten her out, but the band was playing so loud I figured she wouldn't be able to hear me, or vis versa. Plus my coworkers and I were being pretty loud cheering on a yellow lab named Cody who was apparently afraid of water and then miraculously won the diving dog competition on his final attempt.
Maybe you had to be there, but if you get a chance to watch a rerun of that on ESPN, it's a heart warmer.

Anyway, it's work, work, work around here and don't y'all forget it!

Why, just today I had to babysit this young gator in class.

Look into that eye.

Is he cute or what?

Goofy picture, but I was so stoked to be holding this little fella, and the photographer did not warn me, so she caught me in mid laughter. You know it's going to be a good day when you get to hold a baby gator before you finish your morning coffee.
This is an edugator. His job is educating kids ... and me, but mostly kids in a classroom.
As you can see, it's a sweat shop work environment here at Harbor Branch, after the gator bonding session, I went to a seaweed farm, dragged a plankton net and ID'd plankton under the scopes, and then finally, I went seine netting for fish in the Indian River Lagoon.
It's a regular salt mine around here ...

I feel your pain, FC. You're so brave to hide the agony with that kid-in-a-candy-store smile. :)

Stay strong, little buckaroo. Stay strong...

I hope you can hold up under the strain...don't you have a union or something?
Love the happy look btw and am glad your photographer caught it. Have fun, take lots of pictures. We await breathlessly for more fish!

I will disagree with you! Even though it is not "vacation", you are doing what you LOVE!!! I am FINALLY on vacation. Oh, and sorry about the chilli! By the time I remember in Trenton it was storming so bad that I was not going back for it!!!! :(

Such hardship. Your job sounds almost as difficult and unpleasant as mine.

It must be the strain of work that generated that horrible pun...the edugator....

I see you're still having fun on the job. You're a very lucky man. Any job that requires holding a little alligator like that is just the best.

The little edugator must love his job too. Look at the smile on that little face.

That's not a goofy picture. That's a fine picture!

I agree with Pablo- Nice spontaneous laughter photo!

No one around here is sympathizing with me because I had to stay up until 3 AM Thursday morning fishing with the aid of electricity. It's my job, I only do it for the money, bur it was kind of fun...

Those little gators are surprisingly cute. I like how they look like they are smiling. And, as always, I like how you look so happy when you are holding a critter.

That picture shows genuine joy - which makes it harder to believe that you're working LOL Looks like a great job!

Thanks y'all!
Sorry I was so tardy in posting. Travel and the lack of computers at my folks house put a crimp in my daily plan.
