Forget that "land of milk and honey" stuff ... WE have ice tea flowing through our swamps here in Florida.
Okay, ... you have to supply your own ice ... that's what 7-11's are for.
These scenes are from the Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge ... a place I like to go when I'm feeling fresh.
The nice thing about LSNWR is it butts up to the Gulf of Florida, so if I start feeling salty, I can just cruise a little and pretty soon I'm on the edge of the ocean.
One of the swamp mallows blooming amongst the fall wildflower bloomapalooza. This is the best wildflower time of the year in Florida.
Lower Suwannee has those amazing tranquil moments too ... where things just seem to match up and come together.

nice that the swamp cooled you off a bit from the previous post. a timely reminder to me to take a hike in the now nearby sierras.
Aaaaahhhhh, what a beautiful place! And that last pic is pretty dawgawn amazing! Manmade art can't begin to compare with God's creations.
All those wildflowers are a large part of the reason this is my favourite time of year... well, tied with dogwood bloom time. 8-]
I went hiking through the Everglades swamp down at Clyde Butcher's gallery last year. Quite an experience! Afterwards they had an area where people could donate their now muddy black shoes for the needy (I presume they were going to wash them before they gave them to the needy!) I hadn't considered that when I finished with the walk, my shoes and socks would be absolutely BLACK!
I feel much more relaxed after looking at these photos. It's not quite the same thing as being there but it will have to do.
I would love to go exploring there when it cools off some. Less blood suckers too.
Beautiful photos. These remind me to go up towards the other end of the Suwannee-where my father's family came from. Saturday morn, I'll be at the Okefenokee Festival at Folkston and the Refuge. Then, I'll "snake down" US 441 to Lake City for the Alligator Festival to see Okefenokee Joe, the snake educator!

Gee, that swamp looks nice! It is snowing big, fat flakes at the moment and we are forecast for overnight temps at 16F and 13F on Friday and Saturday nights! Yikes....
