A BLACK AND WHITE DAY ... ALMOST

I know many of you live so far opposite of South that weeks may go by with grey skies during the winter, but here, in Pure Florida, winter gives us our most beautiful blue skies ... most of the time.

Sometimes the sea fog oozes in, sucking all the color out of the scenery.
It did that last week and honestly, it was a nice bit of visual spice to our clear blue winter ceiling.

Like a good snowfall, the fog quiets everything down ... not that Cedar Key is especially noisy anyway.
Apparently the blue clam farm skiff did not get the memo that this was a black and white day.

The clam nursery building must have skimmed the black and white day rule book, it almost qualified.

But wait ... what's that off in the distance ... out there on the PVC pipe channel marker?

Well done Osprey, well done.

There is something magical about fog over the water and you captured it beautifully!

Nice.

We had rain over the weekend, and then fog this morning. This morning on my drive over to work I saw some really nice foggy fields with cattle and treelines and barely visible low mountains in the distance, but no place to pull over to take a picture. That's really frustrating.

I've been in south Louisiana and Galveston, Texas the last five weeks. We have had a lot of really cloudy days but today is both sunny and warm. I'll be sweating in the garden by noon. But the monarchs have eaten almost every leaf of the Mexican butterfly weed, so there is no more places for the few remaining monarchs to lay their eggs.

Love your fog pictures. Give old views new life.

Hi FC,

Beautiful pictures. I need to get to Cedar Key. It's been a while.

I was in Ormond Beach this past weekend and got up to see the sunrise on Sunday. It was the most beautiful scene. There was an ocean storm many miles south with a huge black cloud low on the horizon. You could not tell where the ocean and the sky met. Above the black storm the sky was pale blue with red streaks. Amazing!!

Hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas FC!

If we don't have a foggy day once in awhile, we might take our blue skies for granted.
Really nice images. Sure made me want to be on the water, though!

Thanks for the comments.
The fog has more fans than most might expect.

I hope to get the Winter Solstice Sunrise over the marsh for you tomorrow if the weather cooperates.
