So, it's been raining a bit ...
ELLZEY CHURCH AT THE INTERSECTION OF LEVY COUNTY 336 AND STATE ROAD 24
It's been a rainy summer here on Florida's Nature Coast ... not that summer isn't normally rainy, but this one feels memorable.
The situation right now is this:
We have had lots of rain over the past few weeks here in Levy County. As a result, our ground is saturated, our swamps are brimming, and our creeks are rushing.
That was the situation last week ... BEFORE a really interesting weather system parked over us.
For the past few days, including today (so far), the rain has been almost continuous and HEAVY.
As I drove home from Cedar Key after work yesterday, (via a detour because the main highway (SR24) was flooded), it felt like a Hurricane without the wind.
It was that same torrential rain, flooded roads, fields, and yards, grey skies, etc, but no wind.
"Hurricanish" rain minus wind...
Of course, it's not a hurricane or anything near that status, but the rain has been spectacular.
My pond which had been creeping out of its banks all summer, literally LEPT OUT of its banks yesterday swallowing the dock, the surrounding meadow and as of last evening was creeping uphill into the forest.
