At my Dad's bird feeder, this bright-eyed rodent is welcome. He used to create and buy all types of squirrel excluders for his feeders, but at some point he and the squirrels made peace. Now Mom and Dad buy peanuts for the squirrels along with birdseed for the birds. They get a lot of pleasure watching their antics. As a kid, my brother had a pet squirrel named Don Pedro Menendez de Aviles. Don Pedro came to us as a tiny baby with eyes still closed. My mom and brother nursed it with baby doll baby bottles and Don Pedro prospered. He was cute and funny, but don't ever make a squirrel mad while you are holding him. I still don't know what I did, but I do know those long incisors that can get through a pecan shell in a few minutes, go through flesh even faster. I just admire them from a distance these days.  Posted by Picasa

Have you seen those bird feeders that whirl around causing the squirrel to fly off? I can't remember where I saw it advertised, but they sold it with a video showing all types of squirrels whirling off the thing. I guess it was pretty funny. Of course, I would not laugh at any squirrel getting whirled off a bird feeder...heh!

Hick,
I can just imagine standing nearby as an angry squirrel whirls through the air towards me.
