Here's a sign you don't see every day. This was at Manatee Springs State Park also. Posted by Picasa

Vultures seem to increasing in numbers.I saw a few in a Mcdonalds resturant the other day looking for handouts. On the 340 mile run between Jax and Cuba I mean Miami we run over many animals especially possums.Sometimes there are about ten or more vultures fighting over a ripe possum.Sometime one will stay to get one last bite before he flies to evade the train, but sometimes that last bite cost him his life.Possums Im sure are plentiful we run over probley 50 every 24 hours. There not to bright.

Rick,
You may be right. There's certainly plenty of fresh roadkill to eat and cell towers to roost on. After reading this sign, I think Michael Jackson should probably stay away from this dock.

We have turkey vultures around our area. They are soooo ugly on the ground and beautiful in flight. Their heads look like road kill. Yuk...ugly but necessary.

Hick, I know what you mean...we have the turkey and the black vultures. I have always thought that bald red head was an adaptation to sticking your head and neck deep into the rotting body of some dead critter. Maybe easier to keep clean than feathers.
