This old nest was in a fallen branch. A birdnest is such an amazing example of the biological programming we call "instinct" No one teaches a bird to build a nest. Think about it. The nest is built before the eggs are ever laid so chicks don't get to watch the parent birds as they build. Yet, when it's time, the new generation knows how to weave a tight nest using not hands, but their mouth. Posted by Picasa

Birds ain't so great. My children were born with the ability to make nests in their rooms on top of their beds...with things found all over the house (especially the three portable phones.) They are also able to find me (when they want something)no matter where I might hide. Heh!

Seriously...God's world is amazing and your pictures, as usual, are wonderful.

Hick,
My kids are great nesters also and the missing downstairs phones are almost always located upstairs in their "nests". My son is more of a ground nester...I'm not sure he's actually slept on his bed for the last 3 years. Take care and thanks for visiting.
