"...a bowl of surrounding high ground." Now, just where in Florida, is the "high ground". Isn't the highest point in Florida something like 213 feet? I mean, just a few 12-foot alligators high?(But I agree with you, this is really pretty.)
Hoss,It's all relative. To us, a sand dune 30 feet above sea level is a "hill" that might require oxygen to reach the summit. Our high point is 345 foot Britton Hill in the panhandle.

The fee and jail time is waived if you feed yourself to the gator. That does work out well for law enforcement and the gator.
