Here are some current signs of spring in Pure Florida:

1) Carolina jessamine blossoming in great clusters of yellow.

2) Red maples laden with clusters of red winged seeds on bare branches.

3) Blueberry blossoms swelling and opening into white promises of blue fruit.

4) Black cherry trees unfolding delicate, unblemished new leaves.

5) A lost apple tree blooming pink and leafing out in perfect green.

6) Sparkleberry trees with clumps of white blossoms even as last year's black fruits still hang.

7) Redbuds in other people's yards awash in glorious pink...not red.

8) Bream beds in the shallows of a creek.

9) Sneaky lawn grass greening and lengthening.

10) Valentines Day. Bah humbug! :) Posted by Picasa

the only thing that might be blooming in Missouri right now is witchhazel. Big goofy yellow stringy blooms. Must be wind pollinated cuz I don't think any flying insects are about.

FC,
I'd do a top ten list of spring in Ohio, except it would be about 7 short: Clouds, Rain, Cold. Yep that about sums it up!

Oh, unfair.

Humbug? Are you a Valentine's Day Scrooge?! :)

Spring? I thought spring was on it's way in, and then we ended up with frost on the car windows this morning.
That shouldn't be so surprising at this time of the year, except that I live in Pinellas County, which is surrounded by water and which isn't supposed to freeze! Even the weather folks said we wouldn't get a freeze last night! they were wrongggg!
So, spring? bring it on! I've had enough of our one week "cold front".
and boy, do I ever miss the redbud and dogwood season in North Fla. :(
That's a beautiful picture, btw!
Stay warm up there!

Valentines day is just another day for us, btw. :)

We still have some snow on the ground from the storm we had Sat. It should melt pretty fast. The temps are supposed to hit the 50"s today.
Laura, I lived in Pinellas County most of my life and don't believe those who tell you it doesn't freeze. I've seen snow in St. Pete.

Nice list. We had frost last night. The TV at four thirty - am - said it was 38% but the whole yard had ice on it and the trucks were covered. Course once the sun comes out it is all gone.

Pablo,
Even here the bugs are frozen...two days of mid-20's for low temps.

Thunder,
Sounds lovely...

Rurality,
Ha ha! We have spring firrrrst! A bit of a Vday Scrooge...

Laura,
We have scraped ice off windshields two days in a row. We'll be sweltering soon enough tho. Even the azaleas are blooming.

DPR,
That Iris saw it's shadow.

Mac,
If you live in FL long enough, you will see everything...even snow.

Doubleknot,
Everything here was frost covered this morning. Very pretty.

xariklea,
Well if you look at the map of FL, I'm in the armpit.

Don't worry, the pink blossom in the picture is brown and dead after the last two nights temps.

Xariklea,
I know Roys and I agree!

Speaking as a St Pete resident, Nothing says spring to me like the day the Jacarandas bloom. You wake up one morning and realize the entire world has turned lavendar.
