Proud Daddy Bragging Post: Emma Is Our County's Governor's All Star Winner!

Our
baby
girl

Every year each county in Florida picks one Governor's All Star winner from all their 11th graders. The award is competitive and is based on a host of criteria. Here's an exerpt from the State's press release:

"The All-Stars program, now in its seventh year, honors one high school junior from each of the 67 school districts in Florida. To select the award winners who best met the state criteria, school districts convened a panel comprised of at least one teacher, one administrator, one parent, one community member and two high school seniors.
The panel used the following criteria to select the winners:

Ø Academic Performance - Earns at least a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

Ø Behavior - Maintains good conduct both inside and outside the classroom.

Ø Leadership - Participates in extra-curricular activities such as athletics, enrichment programs and school clubs.

Ø Community Service - Participates in volunteer, mentoring or civic activities."

The winners are feted at a reception and dinner at the State Capital. This year, the winner for our county is our very own Emma!

Yes, we are silly with pride.

That's absolutely stellar! Congratulations to Emma and the parents who raised her. I love awards that are based on a variety of criteria beyond academic performance. Show me a kid that is involved in their community in a positive way.

Fantastic!
