I've had what's supposedly "fresh shrimp" on the coast, but in reality I'm sure it's been caught on a boat and iced til it gets to me. So, does really really fresh shrimp taste much different?
The pictures over the last few days have been great, and the adventure looks like a lot of fun.
A bit off-topic, as some would say, but pulling things out of a net and looking at them is the most incredible fun. My marine biology students in the summer, mostly football players, have never done anything like this and will talk about it for hours once they've done it. Of course they usually use trawling nets rather than casting.
The shrimp are a particularly nice harvest. It's hard to figure out which sauce to choose from with cold boiled shrimp.
Wayne, The excitement of watching any net come out of the water, wondering what is inside, is one of my favorite things. You never know what will come up next.
Robin, It was a great catch, but alot of folks caught even more. It makes me wonder what the bottom looks like as a carpet of shrimp crawl across the depths.

definitely find out. in some parts of FL people dip them at night with large dipnets as the shrimp go drifting by on the tide.
Wow, I just noticed...that net has really, really small mesh. Nice pics, and it looks like there was quite a crowd out.

Nice catch, FC. 500 shrimp sounds like quite a haul. You and Katie did a great job.
