The Other Two Jack O'Lanterns

Okay, yes ... my kids got the SciFi gene from me and yes, they are Star Wars fanatics. So it was natural that they would pick out these characters for their Jack O'Lanterns.

The happy pumpkin family.
Emma and Jr. are still so stoked over their creations. It's fun to see them amazed at what they can do.

Note:
I am not happy. Our stupid, never has been a good one, Frigidaire refridgerator went out yesterday and we spent the evening packing food up (Of course I had just gotten groceries for the week) and taking it to a friend's house for cold storage.

So, I'm off today and instead of showing you how to make the amazing Guy Pie I created yesterday, I will be out seeking a replacement fridge.

I suppose I'll just pull that $2000 out of my ... as you can see, I'm a little grouchy.

Happy (Grrrrrrrrrr) Monday.

Wow! the pumpkins are awesome! They really put a lot of work into it. I liked the "Collageoween" too.

And uh, I noticed the wall behind Emma first thing and burst out laughing. We have an enclosed window that looks just like that one. It's in Samantha's room and it needs drywall around it. She painted it dark blue to cover it up. (yuck).

Sorry about the fridge, why do these things always happen at the wrong time!!

We also live in a place where we do not get trick or treaters. But that has never stopped my kids and their friends from carving as many pumpkins as they can. A couple of years ago I spent a small fortune on pumpkins. In the end we had twelve carved pumpkins on the front porch.

I feel for you and the frig. deal. Having lost two frigs full of food year before last in the two hurricanes. I couldn't take my stuff anywhere since all the neighbors were without electric too. Had to toss out pounds of food.

I love your family's pumpkin carving talent.

Those pumpkins are awesome! Which reminds me, I haven't even bought a pumpkin yet...bad mom...

Too bad about the fridge. If you lived here, you could put the food in coolers out on the porch and it would be just fine.

Your kids are talented pumpkin-carvers! Very fine work there.

Sorry to hear about your fridge. My sister just remodeled her kitchen and when she told me how much she paid for her new fridge my jaw dropped, I couldn't believe it. Unexpected expenses are no fun at all. Bright side-- new fridge, energy efficient, bells and whistles.

Awww!! Poor FC!

Just remember how awesome and talented your kids are - I'm sure that'll cheer you up some!

And... um... at least you're not at work? lol

STELLAR pumpkins, btw! Tell your kids some random pregnant lady thinks they're cool :D

Love your blog and feel your pain. This weekend I had to pull $$$ out of my...to replace my hot water heater. Great jack-o-lanterns!

Bad, bad fridge! Hope you had some luck finding one to suit you. I told Treebeard the other day that it is about time for the major appliances to start failing - I think they build 'em to go in 10 or 15 years now.

The pumpkins are impressive. Tell the scions, "Bravo!"

You really have a wonderful family.

oooh! ahhh! I agree with Pablo!
Those are wonderful pumpkins and wonderful smiles. Appliance failure is a real drag, right up there with car failures. But Robin is right-console yourself by enjoying the shiny new frig.
And just think- the water heater might go next week but it's not likely the frig will. Happy Halloween, FC. (I don't think I will have trick or treaters here in the rowhouse but I could be surprised- do you buy candy just in case?)

Love the fancy pumpkins - how did they do that?

Hope they're not too old for trick-or-treating. I still would if I could get away with it!

Laura,
I knew you would understand unfinished walls :) The picture reminds me I need to get busy again.

Debbie,
Ditto. We also decorate the porch at Christmas even though you can't see the house from the road.

POPatricia,
Thanks.
Ouch, two fridges. At least you got a storm break this year.
One was enough for me.

Deb,
Thanks. My porch is 56 this morning. Not an option here.

Robin,
You're right, they are so expensive. Bells and whistles are fun tho :) I actually spent less than I thought.

Mrs. S,
They are an instant "cheer up".
I'll pass the message on!

Likes2mtnbike,
Thanks. I think they are as surprised as anyone.

Momadness,
Welcome! Shared $$$ pain across the time zone :)

Swampy,
Uh oh ... our house is 17 years old so we are in for it.

Pablo,
Thanks. Pinch myself daily.

Vicki,
Thanks! We usually have something around in case some poor stray trickortreater gets lost.

Laurahinnj,
Me too. Actually they are going to my parent's house for the big evening. My folks do Halloween in a big way.
Apparently, they found the stencils on the internet and then FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS! Amazing.

This weekend I had to pull $$$ out of my ... because I went on a trip, laid out my clothes and forgot to put them in the suitcase! Opened it up and found my pajamas and slippers! Dang!

Those are the coolest Jack O'Lanterns I have ever seen!

Hope you found a frig!

Ava

Today is Halloween and I've come trick or treating. Better have some candy for me or this raw egg lands right in the middle of your computer screen.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Yeah, what POP said: Trick or Treat!!!!!!!

WOW! The pumpkins your kids carved get my vote for the best ever!

Too bad about the refrigerator. Things like that only happen around here after I have spent any extra cash on something else.

Wow what fantastic pumpkins...Wow

those pumpkins are so cool! how'd they do it? pattern or freehand?

um. did you actually post a picture of the halloween tree somewhere? i'm so confused.

17 years old? *gulp* yeah, brace yourself.

ooh, did you get one with the flat screen tv in the door, like on those commercials? 'cause i can't for the life of me figure out WHY anyone would do that.

happy halloween!

Laurao,
Seriously, a fridge really is an immediate emergency when they go. The bank has a big ding in it, but is not quite broken ...

roger,
thanks. i hope they had fun wherever they went.

Ava,
LOL! Good excuse for new clothes!
Found fridge, bought fridge.

POPatricia,
I have half a Hershey's Special Dark Bar :)

Likes2mtnbike,
Back at ya'! Hope you're enjoying this perfect weather.

Hal,
Thanks! We seem to be in one thing after another mode around here ... and is that Christmas I see on the horizon? Where did we put the money tree?

MJD,
My thoughts exactly. I was just as stunned by the outcome.

Ericka,
The Halloween Tree is in the dark and glowing in the collage. It's the backdrop behind the kids, but one picture shows it (okay, dimly) by itself.
I'll see if I can't get a better or at least different shot up.
I'm with you, a tv in my fridge? I don't think so...

WOW...the kids created some REALLY GREAT carved pumpkins.

Sorry about your fridge. We had to put a new roof on the house Monday & Tuesday...ARGHHH!!!!

Could have gone on a nice vacation instead, but broken fridges and leaky roofs are part of life's unexpected expenses.

R.Powers said...

Abandoned,
Ugh, my roof is due soon.
