Wish Us Luck ... And Neurons!

Wow, I was talkative this weekend.
I'm going to take it easy today.

So just a bit of random chatter this Monday evening ...

The weather is cold and clear. It's 46 F as I type this at 8:43 pm. A beautiful bright moon is shining.

The new pig is doing great, Jr. just tucked her in with some fresh hay and a heat lamp.

Katie has the crud with a sore throat and general malaise.

Tomorrow, I am taking my Varsity academic team to the conference tournament in Starke. Last week, both of my teams (JV and Varsity) won the second place slots in a divisional tournament. The Varsity team qualified to go to the big conference tournament due to their season record and fine showing at the first tourney.
It would be especially sweeeeeeet if our little school could defeat the bigger school's teams we'll meet tomorrow. We shall see.
If you're curious about all this brainiac competition, check out this post from November '05.

I'll let you know how we did tomorrow evening.

Playing catch up here after time up north
is great fun. I really enjoyed your posts about your time as a NPS VIP- rich memories. I laughed that the family just let him in to watch TV- I suspect it takes a certain mind set to live with that level of trust or nonchalance or whatever. Great posts, FC. Very evocative. And good luck in the tournies.

No piggy pictures yet. Sigh.

I watched that beautiful moon rise right along with you last night. I told Mr Pop that it was my newest addition to the Christmas lighting. It sure was big and bright. It was only in the 60's here last night but for us that was cool enough to turn off the AC and open the windows. Nice!

Good luck to all the players and here's hoping a big celebration is in order soon. :)

Know what, as POP mentioned, my husband and I also looked at that big 'ol beautiful moon and counted a blessing in all this blasted nasty, nerve-shattering weather and related hardships we have had.
Hope all in your family are in good spirits/health soon!

Vicki,
Pig pics were 11/27. Go here http://pureflorida.blogspot.com/2006/11/okay-whew-lets-lighten-mood-around.html

I'll post some more of course!

To all,
To avoid repetition, here's the results of the competition ... drumroll ... we lost.
They had a great season just to make it to this second tournament and they lost to a much larger school's team, but only by a few points. I'm proud of them.

This varsity team has been with me for all of their high school years and now, all seniors, they will graduate in May.
Today was their last High-Q game ever so it was a little sad, but they knew they had played well, and that softened the "last game ever" blues.

Deb,
The pig's fine, Kate's still sick.

Kevin,
She's milking the sick thing for attention :)

ThreeCollie,
I made her chicken noodle soup. That should fix her.

POPatricia,
That moon was still spectacular after sunrise today.

roger,
she's a show pig you know, very high falutin'. the frigid florida winter might cause chapped lips.

Robin,
No trophy, but I came home with Emma! It was her last High-Q match :(

MoMadness,
I'm glad you could see it after all the stormy midwest weather.

we saw that moon last night, too, all the way out in california!

sorry the team didn't win, but they worked hard and are a team. that's what counts.

are the dogs friendly with ms. show pig? and does the pig have a name yet? inquiring minds want to know.

I watched that gorgeous moon as well. It looked pretty cool through the steamed kitchen windows. When I went to bed last night, one of our thermometers read 23°! That moon is out there again right now. If it weren't down to freezing already, I'd take the telescope out.

I SAW those pictures and admired her black rump. I was wanting NEW pictures. I did a day of docent training at FITZ (Farm In The Zoo)- a wonderful area donated by John Deere- and learned that they grow a pound a day. She could be grown up next time we see her.

(sorry about the losses but it sounds as though sportsmenship and pride remain intact.

Kathy A,
Flounder (big yellow dog) was nose to nose with the pig through the fence Sunday. It seemed friendly :) Might have just been a taste test. No name yet, so I call her Pig.

SophieMae,
38 here this morning predawn. It's wonderful!

Vicki,
OOPS! Yes maam, I will get right on it. I don't see why we can't squeak in a weekly pig pic. You are right about the rapid changes.
