Kissed By A Pig, Taxes, And A Progress Report On My New Year's Resolutions

This is not about my craggy visage. It's about that black smudge high on my cheek.
Yesterday, I leaned over the pig fence to shake loose some clogged feed in Pig's feeder and she dashed over, bussed me on the cheek, and ran off.
I stopped and looked around to see if anyone else had seen that.
Nope.
Who would believe it?
It wasn't a nibble or a sniff, it was a smacker.
I took a picture before washing my face, because, as I said, who would believe it?
You may still not, but I swear it's true.
Anyway, being kissed by a pig reminded me it was time to do my taxes. Luckily, Jr.'s
3v3 soccer tournament in Keystone Heights gave me an excuse to put it off one day, but now it is the morrow.
So here I am with a copy of Taxcut and a cold, blustery day just made for cozying up to some
W-2's and assorted tax forms.
Of course, the arrival of W-2's mean we are progressing through the year so I thought I'd check my resolution progress.
I only had 4.
1) Be nicer. I think I'm okay on this one. Bit my tongue a few times and I have not committed any serious crimes since the beginning of the year.
2) See Mom and Dad more. I've failed at this one so far. I only saw them on my birthday and that was kind of a selfish reason (presents, dinner, and Mom's Tollhouse cookies). So this is one to work on.

3) Walk more. On this one, I'm good. I'm not much of a couch potato, but I have been blogging from a chair alot. Only counting real exercise walking, I put in about 12 brisk miles that I had not been doing before resolution. Lots of pushups and weight machine too even though that's not walking, it is an unstated part of this one.

4)Get organized. Could you ever be totally satisfied with your performance on this one? I don't think I could. I have done better so I'm giving myself a passing grade, but not an A on this one.
The first month is done, how are you doing on your 2007 resolutions?

Now most folks generally are not so taken with kisses from a pig as to photographically document the occasion, but if it makes you happy then what the heck. {laughing}

Of course she's going to expect you to return the sentiment!

"Craggy" is a good word, but what's this "resolution" word?

That's so cute, FC. She likes you enough to run up and give you a kiss. Such sweet affection.

Good for you for keeping up with your resolutions.

Hey, you saw a bobcat! I was so excited when I read that comment on our blog, and on the post below. That is so cool.

Alan,
It was a first for me, guess I was overwhelmed :)
I'm afraid light petting is all she's getting from me.

Pablo,
I thought craggy sounded better than "old".
Don't worry about the resolution thing...it's only something we mortals do.

Robin,
She is a nice pig. Let's not tell her I'm BBQing ribs this PM.
Yes, the bobcat was so cool, so photographically frustrating!

Since I made no resolutions I am able to report that I am doing splendidly in keeping them.
Mrs. FC needs to keep an eye on that pig...

I can relate to so many of your experiences, but I can honestly say I have never been kissed by a pig. Possibly by an eel... hmmm... no, I'm pretty sure that was just a slap.

Oddly, our PO has taped a sign to their door... 'NO TAX FORMS'. What's up with that?

As for resolutions, 3 out of 4 is pretty good, but you're slacking on the most important one. I didn't consciously make any, but the eternal 'get in shape' goal is finally getting into shape. I'm about 10-12 lbs lighter and not wheezing quite so uncontrollably after a brisk walk to the mailbox. 8-}

Swampy,
I think the pig had heard that if you kiss a human it'll turn into a boar, poor thing didn't realize it was spelled boor. Pigs don't spell well.

Sophie,
You are right about the most important one. Still, I have eleven months to fix that so there is hope. The other 3 can all be done here, that one takes a 125 mile ride. I'm making excuses aren't I?
Thanks for the reminder :)

125 miles? well, that shouldn't take much more than 45 minutes with junior driving, eh?

i think ms. piggy has started her campaign for clemency. pretty soon, she'll have the spiders lined up to weave "too cute!" signs in the pen.

If anyone can look good after being kissed by a pig...

As for resolutions, I resolved to stop procrastinating, and I just yesterday mastered that, with a promise to myself to stop putting it off and start swimming two days a week. So far, so good. Tuesday isn't here yet.

That is a pretty nifty picture....and I don't even attempt resolutions. Anything I have the self-discipline to do I do and I have given up on the rest. Have fun with those taxes. lol

Jumping ahead, my New Years resolution for 2008 is not to break any more mirrors. I broke one, Samantha broke another, and Britt's theme song for her Colorguard team is "Broken Mirrors".

and you can see just how well that has worked out for us! LOL!

Great pic, except for where the pig gotcha ahead of time for blogging about taxes! I think I'd better wait till our luck gets better before I start on mine... lol

Kathy A,
That would be Mrs. FC's driving :)
I'm checking for spider script!

Deb,
(blush,blush)
There's liquid water in MN this time of year?

ThreeCollie,
Thanks. The taxes were less fun than last year, I only have one kid who qualifies for the tax credit. Too late for more ...

Laura,
You guys need some of those rubberized mirrors :)

All my life I've heard people use the expression "well, kiss a pig", but this is the first time I've ever.....

Ol Lurker,
She kissed me. I didn't kiss back.

uh oh...does Mrs. FC know about this?

Was that pig ever named? If so, I missed it.

As far as resolutions go, we're not ones to make ones. Instead, we set two goal areas to work on: health and home. How's that for vague goals??

How are we doing? Well, I joined Weight Watchers last week and am on my way to better health. Hubby has started eating more oatmeal as he has an issue with high cholesterol. Hopefully soon we'll get back to evening walks so we'll both be able to say we're working on the health goal. And with the home... I'm currently taking a break from slappin' primer on the walls of what will be transformed from the messy storage room to an actual guest room.

As Frank sings, Nice And Easy Does It Every Time.

HTeen,
We're just friends.

Juli,
Sounds sensible. Tell Hub to try the Kashi oatmealcereal with the wild blueberries in it. Dang, I eat it almost every morning and I can't think of the name!
I guess it helps your heart not your brain!
The pig is apparently PIG.
Pretty creative huh?
