Friday Puzzler Answer Poem

What could it be,
this thing from the sea.
POP could not commit,
Dave thought conch might be it.
Doc agreed,
Three Collie thought it to be a steed.
Cathy said NO, it's roe,
not some sea horse toe.
Robin admired our painting pluck,
and proposed it might be goeduck.
Hurricane Teen got off track,
he's a teen and had a mullet hunger attack.
Pop came back for seconds,
but still seemed stumped ... I reckon.
Sophie's on the road again,
her guess was missing or ... mighty thin.
Deb was distracted and all atwitter,
at memories of Virgin Island conch fritters.
Hal knew one thing that could not be denied,
If it's southern, it better be fried.

It's not conch, goeduck, or lizard,
It's part of the mullet, we call it the gizzard!

Yes, mullet have gizzards just like a bird.
You heard it from FC so you know it's the WORD!

This poem is all through,
If you commented after Hal my apologies to you.

Does Florida have a Poet Laureate? (believe it or not, Minnesota does!) Anyway, you should be it.

Mullet gizzard?

???

Can't you see
That I won't agree
It's tasty?

I should go to bed, but my stomach is upset just imagining it!

I love mullet gizzards. It's been a long time since I've had any though. I was travelling Friday and couldn't post my guess, but I would have been right.

How did the house painting go? It was nice to see your mom and dad at Sonny's.

My husband said,
It couldn't be roe.
It is not the season
You know!

Still I guessed.
Though I was not right,
Mullet gizzard?
Yuck, what a fright!

Now I know what to do with the mullets that harass me when I wade in the gulf waters. They can be quite assaulting, you know.

Clever! Wow, never had a mullet gizzard, I'll have to add it to the list of "not yet eaten"!

Loved your poem, but I never would have guessed that fish had gizzards.

wow, that's the best roadkill poetry I've ever read in my whole life. ;)

Now 'bout that gizzard, does it taste like liver?

Oh god, worse than I thought.

I knew it looked a bit like a chicken gizzard but since it came from the ocean, chicken was out. Just for the record, chicken gizzards are also gross.
