I Beam

Prom was Friday a week ago. The Senior Awards ceremony was this past Monday.

Somehow, I manaaged to sit on these pictures for a week, but I'm all out of self control and must show off. The top picture is Emma and beau Alex about to go to the prom.

No, the beautiful background is not Pure Florida HQ. That's the living room of Corinne (Emma's BFF). Corinne's family owns one of the oldest cypress mills in the country. They build amazing log homes, just check out the BK Cypress link over to the right of this web page.

It's not shown in the picture, but Corinne has a cypress tree running through the center of their log home. Pretty cool.

I've written about these two before, so I'll just say they have an amazing friendship.
It's nice to be pretty, but it's better to be smart and these two swept the senior awards from Physics to English 4 Honors.
Yesterday was that weird final day of school for the seniors. Lots of tears and hugs.
Ahead this week:
Baccalaureate with a guest speaker who throws passes for the GATORS. Yes, Laura ...it's who you think it is.
A "Florida Feast" pregraduation party. All traditional Florida food.
Graduation on Saturday.
Whew!
Now, I'm off to see my Momma for Mother's Day.

Wow! Where to begin. That gorgeous dress in electric blue. She looks like a mermaid princess. The big smile. All of the awards.

You have a lot to be proud of, FC! Good work.

(In a matter of coincidence, we are traveling to the boy's university today for his graduation ceremonies.)

A similar scene played out at our neighbors house last week. I guess I've got about 10 years or so before we see that here. Your kids look so happy. On a side note, is that a longleaf replica on your fireplace mantle? Looks like it could be to me. Who else would have noticed, right?

Congrats to the graduating class of 2007. Emma has the most beautiful and beaming smile. Actually, she and her friend have it all-- beauty and brains. They're on their way to changing the world! I can't wait.

Congrats to you - beam away!

It's nice to see young girls wearing proper prom dresses these days. Up here the styles seem to be to inspired by streetwalkers.

Oh, she's beautifullll!!! I love her hair as well, all those curls...just beautiful! Congrats to both girls on their awards and blessings to both of them as they embark on the next chapter of their lives. Good luck at USF Emma!

And now I'm off to check out that BK Cypress link that you mentioned. If it's hurricane and fire resistant, I'm going to file that info away for when we build again, farrrr, far away from the city.

"...throws passes for the Gators?"
I want to hear all about it! :)

OMG - You sat on these for a week? You're a better man than I (in more than the obvious sense). She's beautiful, she's smart, and she forms strong bonds with her friends - you must be so proud you're about to burst. Congratulations to you both.

Move over, Alex. Emma, I have two really nice boys for you to meet. :0) Congratulations all around.

The moment the page opened I thought, "Cinderella!" That is the dress of little girl's dreams and she does indeed shine like a humble princess.

Congratulations again on all the fine Cracker spirit that results in these lvely children with their stellar accomplishments.

About that smoke? Abby says it's terrible; hurts to go outside and all the masks in Tampa and St. Pete are sold out. I missed it by a few days and I'm just as glad. Now, while I worry that she is off to catch Lasso Fever I can be relieved that she is not breathing smoke!

Smart...and beautiful...and from what I can see, very self confident. I love to see kids like this! And the prom dresses...very classy. Congrats to Emma and Corrinne.

I guess the weather has given some relief to the fire situation in northern MN today. Hope it's better there.

Two babes who are smart babes. Can't get any better than that.

I know this feeling - this swelling of the heart with love and pride.

'Good job' doesn't seem adequate, but after all - it is the hard work, the setting of goals and succeeding.

Good job. Congrats to you, the proud parents - and to that beautiful young woman holding the future in her eyes and lovely smile.

Lovely.

Pablo,
Thanks! Congrats on your graduate! It's a busy season.

RCW,
Enjoy every minute of those 10 years, all that stuff about "they grow up too fast" is true.

Robin,
If anyone can change it, these two can.

Laurahinnj,
I know what you mean. The streetwalker dress code is culturally pervasive.

Laura,
Thanks! Those BK homes are beautiful.
Yeah, that young pass tosser is coming to talk to us :)

Wren,
I know, it was tough... the picture sitting. Bursting is definitely possible :)

ThreeCollie,
Thanks!

Cathy,
LOL! I'll pass that along :)

Vicki,
I believe it truly was the perfect dress. We thought she looked like Belle in Disney's Beauty and The Beast ... her favorite little girl movie.
The smoke comes and goes, right now there are severe T-storm warnings for our county. Hoping for rain.

Deb,
Classic beauty and brains. I like it.
No rain yet here, but it's rumbling.

Hoss,
You said it.

Cathy,
Thanks. Emma, Corinne, and Alex make us all proud.

What everybody else said! Looks like the highest 'award' went to Alex on prom night.

In the last pic, my first thought was, 'she could be Rachael Ray's little sister'. (Sorry if you're one of the RR haters. I'm a huge fan and think she's totally adorable. 8-] )

Sophie,
Thanks.
Um.
I don't know who Rachel Ray is.
Will Google.
