Katy Is 20? How Can That Be?

Twenty sounds too grown up.

An age we used to joke about ...

when it was far in your future.

As in,

"Well, maybe when you're twenty young lady, but for now, you can forget about ... (INSERT SILLY OR DANGEROUS REQUEST HERE)

Now you are there, no longer a teen.

(The answer is still NO by the way)

First baby, you can't believe the things you taught us ...

they're too numerous to list here.

Love and Laughter mostly,

but other things too.

Like

dancing to Raffi,
how to stand up and run in a canoe,
(that gator wasn't going to eat you)

knowing each line in The Little Mermaid ..." You want thingamabobs?",

the location of every emergency care center within 50 miles,

the importance of seatbelts and car insurance,

the sheer unbeatable coziness of snuggling and reading a good book ...
like Ferdinand The Bull.
Too much, and I said I wouldn't list them,
so I'll stop,
but you know what I mean.
So this birthday makes us nostalgic
for the funny baby, toddler, kid, teen we knew.
Forgive us for being selfish and silly,
but we're parent's after all.
The truth is ...
You are right where we wished you'd be,
twenty years ago today.
Happy Birthday Katy-Bug!

Happy Birthday Katy!
20 is a great age, the beginning of all things possible. Just ask anyone over 30... ;)

What a sweet post. They grow up SO fast, don't they? And every year is better than the year before. Love the Bud can, it made me chuckle.

Happy Birthday, Katy... and if your dad says the answer is still NO, listen to him. He knows what he's talking about!

Beautifully written. I hope you completely forget about it. And she saves it and treasures it.

Then 20 years from now...

Alcohol, a motor vehicle, and a minor. Of course, this had to be before you went to FLETC. :)

And now, after reading your post, I'm getting sentimental and weepy thinking about my own "little ones" and birthdays past. Thanks FC. :)

Laura,
It's true. 20 is spectacular. I liked it so much I did it twice and some exra.

Paint,
:)

3C,
We think so too!

Robin,
Thanks, but can I adjust to 20 before we head to 21?
:)

Leslie,
Thanks for that support.
:)
They do grow up too fast.

Sharon,
Gee, I didn't get damp-eyed writing it ;)

Artful,
Thanks.I like that idea.

Kathy A,
:) She had her last final of the semester tonight on her birthday!
Poor thing.

Kmoo,
LOL!
After actually, but she designated a driver that day.
Glad it triggered memories for you.

Cute pic! But surely you're not old enough to have a 20-year old kid... she adopted you, right? :)

Rurality,
Yes, yes, that was it. She adopted me.
