Dog's Day, Dandy Datils Debut

The "puppies" turned 12 yesterday.

Flounder (yellow) says 12 is the new 9, so not to worry.

Feather says she doesn't care what the calendar shows, she only feels 8.

I listen to their wisdom and hold it close.

Meanwhile, at Dad's house in St. Augustine, in the storm damaged greenhouse I repaired, tiny datil pepper seeds are emerging from rich homemade compost.

They are the newest link in a chain stretching back centuries.

It's great to see those seedlings! I just organized my kitchen and got my seed starting shelf partly cleared off. It will be a while though.

Cute pups!

To answer your battery question... they get used up faster when it's very cold. Normally we only change them once or twice a year though. Use Duracells - they last a lot longer than anything else.

Twelve-year old puppies are my favorites. Happy birthday to them.

We started talking about when to drive back to Washington, and just seeing those sprouts reminds me of what we'll be doing when we get there. Ah spring.

Happy birthday, Flounder and Feather!
I sure hope you dad has more luck with his Datils than I've had this year.
1100 seeds planted and only about 50 remaining. I don't know what went so wrong this year.

Happy Birthday, puppies! You really are splendid examples of man's best friend- beautiful labs leading a wonderful life.

Peppers! I look every day but I just planted them on the 19th- so it's early. The lettuce is up, planted the same day- so maybe in the next few. I'll post pictures as soon as they pop.
