Ibisy

Caught a cold last night, so technically, ... Ibisick, but it's little more than some sniffles, sneezing, and a sore throat, so I'm heading out to the garden to continue deerproofing and planting.

I'm installing 8 foot tall posts out there and soon I will attach fencing from the existing 3 foot high hog panel fencing to the top of the 8 foot posts. Sort of a "Fortress Floridana".

Chewie is helping me.
You doubt that?
Tune in tomorrow.

If you are snow bound, and even if you are not, please enjoy these ibis from the Oklawaha River a few weeks ago.

Ibisy in the garden today.

If you were working on a Mac, you would have written it at "iBisy."

One possible way to deerproof you garden may be to point a game camera at it. They won't come anywhere near a working game camera. That seems to be working for me.

I'd say that extra 5 feet ought to put them deer in their place!
Ha ha, Pablo's comment about the game camera made me laugh, too.

Backing away from the monitor...don't want to catch your cold!

Thanks for sharing the ibis photos. It's below zero and windy here today.

We are and I thank you.
Hope you feel better soon.

Speaking for the snowbound...your photos are wonderful! The Ibis is a new bird for me...don't remember seeing any when I lived down south, but they are really interesting and seem to "work the camera"...always busy acting natural, etc. I guess what I'm saying is...GREAT photos! :)

Here's hoping you beat the cold fast.
You take wonderful photos. I especially love your new "header" one of the Female gator. The lady doesn't want to get her hair wet, unless the next meal is worth it.
(Ha ha)

Sorry you are feeling poorly, but glad you don't feel so bad you can't be outside. I took some time off sick from work a while back and a co worker said as I was headed out the door to go home, "Don't go home and weed your garden now." How did she know that's where I would have ended up? Who can stay in bed all day when there's so much to do outside? It is kind of hard to go back to work after being out sick and explain the dirt under your fingernails, however. Get well soon!

Oh, as for deer protection around your garden. The pioneers used to put sharpened stakes along their fence line so when the deer jumped the fence it slit their bellies and they died. Ick. Don't you try it. I think the game cam is a better idea.

As an FSU fan I'm not too fond of anything related to Ibis's because of their association with the U of Miami... but I will forgive them for Miami's indiscretions. :)

Pablo,
Definitely LOL over your deer cam comment.

HT,
Let's hope so.

Deb,
I saw the forecast and thought of you folks!
Brrrr.

3C,
No big deal. Sniffles mostly.
Thanks.

Kimberlee,
Thanks. They are pretty common around here. I like their clean lines.

Mockinbird,
Right after I took that gator photo Friday, my cell phone rang, and as I answered it a huge otter loped across the road in front of me.
Next time I'm not answering the phone!

Hoss,
I usually do!

Cathy S,
Funny, I had dirty fingers all week after last weekend's gardening. I ground it into these calloused hands and it stayed.
I wore gloves this week.
I''ll skip the punji spike deer defense.

Alan,
FSU fan?
Aren't FSU athletes more partial to jailbirds?
