I DID IT! NATIONAL BOARDS CERTIFICATION!

IF YOU WERE WITH ME, ROOTING FOR ME, SUPPORTING ME, OR JUST PUTTING UP WITH MY WHINING DURING THIS POST, THIS POST, THIS POST, THIS POST, AND THIS POST ... WELL, WE DID IT!

THE GOOD FOLKS AT THE NATIONAL BOARD FOR PROFESSIONAL TEACHING STANDARDS RELEASED THE 2008 SCORES TODAY AND I MADE IT!

SURE, I HAD TO EAT A LITTLE HUMBLE PIE LAST FALL WHEN I MISSED IT BY 7 POINTS, BUT I TOOK THE ADVICE THAT I'M ALWAYS GIVING MY STUDENTS AND DID NOT GIVE UP.

IT SEEMS THE SECOND TRY IS THE CHARM.

SO, I'M TOTALLY STOKED!

T-O-T-A-L-L-Y.

I'M GOIN' OUTSIDE NOW TO HOWL AT THE MOON!

WOOHOO!!

CONGRATULATIONS! You worked so hard and it paid off. Flash that certificate around to the next student who whines about something being hard. Go celebrate! (And I assume for you that will be wading through a swamp and picking up water moccasins!)

Congratulations. My guess is you just aren't a natural test-taker or you'd have passed it last time.

You're certainly a good Teacher.

WOW! What a great achievement, FC.
Congratulations for being dedicated to your goal, such a super example to your students.(I must confess I'm one of those administrators, but one who lived in the classrooms after leaving my own. Today, I still volunteer at schools and at the wildlife park where I present Reading with Rocky animal programs monthly. Just can't stay away from teaching something new to anyone who will listen! LOL Again, Many Kudos to my favorite kind of teacher, one who is passionate and was born to teach. Keep up the good work with those lucky kids!

Wowsers! THANK YOU ALL!

I really appreciate the kind words. Believe it or not, I hadn't been back to Pure Florida since early Saturday morning, due to a weekend of construction work at both my kin's house and mine.

Just to answer a couple of questions from the many comments:

Yes, besides the honor of joining this select group, there is a payraise involved ... if the horrible budget situation doesn't wipe it out.

Although there was a test, it was a small component of what basically is a set of 4 massive writing portfolios regarding different aspects of teaching.

Yes, Caroline, Mrs. FC was very supportive when I was working on this and not doing my usual share of the workload around here. Good point.

I worked all day Saturday at my Brothernlaw's house ... unlike me, who does a room a year, he has gutted much of his house and bitten off more than he can chew, so I went down to trim his living room while he tore his kitchen apart.
Then I came home and worked until 11:00 on my living room, crashed until 7:00 am (late for me) and worked until 9:00 pm on the fireplace.

Result? Much closer to having the fireplace done, but not a single decent wildlife adventure on a spectacularly beautiful weekend.

Oh well, only two work days this week, so maybe I can make up for this faux pas.

Thanks again for the congrats!

Well, I feel like I should get a tardy slip for my late comment, but I couldn't let this post pass without sending a big HURRAY your way! I have not attempted the National Board Certification, but I am very well aware of the UNBELIEVABLE amount of time and energy involved. So...on top of all the others...I humbly add my CONGRATULATIONS to the pile. I hope you have a happy and restful Thanksgiving week, especially with this wonderful accomplishment off your "to do" list! :)

Congrats FC! I'd seen the good news the other day there in my sidebar... just getting here now to pat you on the back.

Will there be a raise, at least?

;-)

¡Felicitaciones, señor! What a wonderful addition to your Thanksgiving thankful list! Truckload of brownie buttons coming your way. 8-]

And now I know what started all the neighbourhood dogs barking the other night. *heh*

That's quite an accomplishment. You are an example of the best of our Florida public school teachers!

Sorry I'm a couple days late, but I have to add my congratulations...WTG PF!!!

S N B said...

I want to add my congratulations. As I have said, it was the hardest, most stressful thing I have ever done and I was thankful to have completed it a few years back. I am sorry that the legislature does not see the value in it for there will be no monetary assistance or reward for those of us due to renew our certificates.
